There are so many methods to doing this. I love the traditional way but even traditional blocks vary. I just want to use layer cakes because I don't trust my ability to cut perfect squares every time. That, and I'm lazy. I see people zigzagging the squares together but I like this way better. I also don't want to do a ton of hand sewing. I'm copying this method. thank you!

Working on a cathedral quilt for the last few years -- all hand stitched. Hope to replace one my daughter once had that I made many many years ago and the dog chewed up.... Always loved this pattern. Nice to see a machine sewn version!

Such a delightful tutorial for this venerable block. Years ago I thought I’d give it a try and gave that up rather quickly!

Jenny Doan of Missouri Star has a tutorial with a less complex method and it makes a nice quilt. But nothing can match the traditional method for the sense of depth and texture. I’m going to try just the 4 blocks size you showed here.

I always chuckle a bit when I see the needle thread tail creeping up on you sometimes. I’m honored to be in such good company.

Thank you for this video.

Love this. This is exactly the way my Grandmother taught me to make cathedral windows about 50 years ago except all the sewing was done by hand. I have a partial quilt made that took months to make and now I am inspired to finish it. Thank you so much.

Hey Teresa, This is such a pretty block. Kudos for making it so small. 💖 Chris-Raleigh NC

I absolutely adore the background music. Very soothing and easy on the ears, opposed to the obnoxious music other sites play.

I like the way you teach your not to fast and you show every thing except that i would like to know how many yards for a queen and double and single you can not make a queen else if you don't know how many yards of each to me very seldom that any body would mention what you need there's only one that does it its LISA CAPEN her she shows you every thing you need thank you

I love your tutorial, but I don't understand how to piece the blocks together to make a table runner or quilt. How do you sew the white squares together? Do you sew the sides of each square like you did the four pieces? I'm confused. I'd love to see you demonstrate that. Thank you!

So pretty and, as usual, you make it so easy to follow by breaking it down step by step. Looking forward to making this using scraps for a pillow before tacking a full size quilt. I LOVE this design.

I hate videos with just music, I immediately leave them and most of the time the music is annoying .

This is on my to do list. I'm going to use all Batik fabrics. I've been collecting them for quite a while. I can see it finished in my minds eye. Ahhh!

Great tutorial! Turning over the edges on the window fabrics is a good idea, and I've never seen that before. The window fabrics love to fray and pop out of the windows! :(
There's a nice variation of the original CW pattern called the Secret Garden. Lynne Edwards came up with it - she's done a lot of work on CW! The Secret Garden is even easier than the original block: once the block is folded for the second time a piece of fabric is inserted before the corners in the center are sewn together. Then it's just a matter of sewing down the curves. Hopefully I've explained this clearly, it's really easy to make.
Again, thanks for this wonderful tutorial!

Genius! I made cathedral windows years ago but never knew to turn the edges under, and using that template to get them straight and accurate is a wonderful idea. 🥰

I am thinking of making this into a years long project, each square for everyday of the year, all I have to do is figure out what size that finished quilt will be
