I actually like how severe and unforgiving the writing and direction of this is. These destructive lifestyles are no joke and our awareness is all we have to catalyst change. Nice

Reversing these self development videos by pointing out how to screw one's life as opposed to how to just do things correctly really makes it more relatable and easier to point out what is wrong. I needed this.

Also, the playing runescape part really caught me off guard 😂

this pretty much just described my major depressive episode in 2020 in the beginning of quarantine after I caught a cold, I couldn't do anything. I sat in my room all day, ate chips, gained so much weight while watching youtube videos. I honestly feel so incredibly proud of myself, because I cleaned my room that had garbage everywhere, there was so much you couldn't even see my floor. There were centipedes and other bugs crawling on my floor, and my biggest regret is while I was neglecting myself, I was neglecting my sweet little snake Mike. He did nothing to deserve it and I still beat myself up for it, he would go months without eating. I love seeing how far I've come though, I've been feeding him regularly for an entire year, I go to the gym daily in the morning, and I've lost 60lbs since 2020.

The runescape one was a quick jab even Mike Tyson wouldn't be able to dodge quickly enough.

it's wild how on point this is. i'm 22 and i regularly have to remind myself that my life isn't basically over just because i'm currently in this frame of mind

The part about risk/overthinking hit too close to home. I can't even imagine how my life would look right now if not for the countless times when instead of just doing something that I knew was right, in my mind I played out every possible outcome (99% of which were just projecting my fears) ending up either not doing it in the end, or missing the opportunity...

Been following this tutorial for the better part of 30 years, working out just fine so far

I didn’t realize how much I was falling back into bad habits again until watching this video. I don’t socialize, I don’t take risks, I overthink about everything, and I have been struggling with my growing resentment towards people and beginning to believe that this is just how much life must be. Thank you for the wake up call, hearing someone clearly lay out problems you’ve been trying to not think about is really eye opening

This video works as a great chart of the progress I’m making from me at my worst. It was initially quite scary to watch as it felt too much of a reminder of my failings. But then I thought I owed myself to face-up to it. And thankfully, it actually had the opposite effect to what I expected. It made me realise how much better I’m doing, how far I’ve come, how I’m progressing, and the things I still need to address. Thanks, great video, great concept. EDIT: I wrote this comment before hearing the sign-off, and yeah, I suspected that was the intent of the video from the beginning, but to hear you say it outright, as an “anti-tutorial” (literally what I thought in my head), shows just how perfectly you executed this film.

Thank you! I'm already following most of this guide, waiting for the few rays of hope to wither away. Only a few weeks left

Went to the comment section to see how many of us actually struggle with relating hard to that video, me included. I hope every single one of us is going to take the chance to learn, to act, to forge a healthy attitude toward our own selves, on the self consciousness we've built. Thank you for entertaining and showing us a painting that we can absorb from safer distance.

It’s crazy to come back to this video when doing a lot better. Last time I saw this I was living it

I come back to this video every once in awhile to keep myself in check, I use to be all of these but i’m slowly working on myself and building back up after being in this reclusive state for 7 years of my life (i’m 18 right now)

Thanks.

Step 9 caught me completely off guard, I was so into this and getting dark and serious, then that came and I just burst out laughing 💀

This style of self improvement content is genuinely so much more effective than anything ive ever seen great work

I love the utter gut punch of every point being broken up by "Play Runescape"

That joke aside, the point about pessimism really resonates. Often self improvement is marred by thoughts of "If you could do this you'd already do so? See, you just made a mistake so you can't do it" and it's an incredibly vicious cycle

This was an incredible video. I'm actually feeling pretty good about myself right now and I still think I do these more than I'd like to admit. Thanks for the reality check man

I haven’t done literally anything for four days, not leaving my home except for work and I really needed this, thank you. Even though sometimes you need rest and can’t be productive 24/7, there is the time when you need to get back at it.
