This is a Motormouth couple car review of the new 2025 Ford Explorer mid-size 3-row SUV. The Ford Explorer gets some great updates for 2025! Check out the interior, the days of hard plastic in this SUV are gone.
The 2025 Ford Explorer is powered by a 2.3L turbocharged 4-cylinder with a 10-speed automatic transmission, 300 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque.
There is a more powerful option, a 3L twin-turbo V6 with 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain is available on the Platinum model, standard on the ST. In Canada, the Explorer is 4WD and in the US, RWD and 4WD options are available.
The 2025 Ford Explorer is a 6-7 passenger vehicle. In Canada every trim is offered with a bench seat. In the US, the ST model is the only one that doesn’t have a bench seat but it could come at a later time. The Explorer comes standard with cloth upholstery, available leatherette, faux suede, leather and quilted leather with piping depending on the trim you choose.
The biggest changes come to the interior especially the added technology with a standard 12.3” digital driver display, 13.2” touchscreen with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto and Ford Digital Experience.
In Canada, the 2025 Ford Explorer Active trim starts at $52,830 CAD, ST-Line $58,830 CAD, Platinum $62,930 CAD and ST $71,430 CAD.
In the US, the 2025 Ford ExplorerActiv RWD/4WD $39,755 USD/$41,755 USD, ST-Line RWD/4WD, $44,515 USD/$47,510 USD and Platinum RWD/4WD $51,655 USD and ST $55,505 USD.
The 2025 Ford Explorer can tow 5,000 pounds.

I have a '17 Platinum. Excellent highway vehicle and a bit of a boat in tight city driving. Drove a new ST lately - the stiff suspension made for tight cornering and so was surprised when it wallowed through the pylons. The big horsepower is unbeatable on long up-hills where the hybrids can't compete.

2018 Sport with 3.0 Twin Turbos. Love this vehicle. Powerful, fast and fun to drive. Maybe too much fun - Had Pathfinder, BMW and two Silverados try to run from me uphill and flat. Easily pulled away. Still managed over 20 mpg driving this way. Never any mechanical issues.

They should miniaturize this look, and put it on the Escape .

I was stumped on the color I want and after watching this which shows different colors at different angles I've made up my mind. Ty!

It looks so good, they did a nice job on this design. It is unfortunate that only the Platinum gets the projector lamps... this should be standard, especially for the pricing of these trims. It is also sad to see it lost the rear amber turn signals, and the hybrid. Ford better bring the hybrid engine back. Great review as always!!

Great review, and so glad to see they saw the light on the interior (the cockamamie vertical infotainment tablet). Ditch the dial-o-shifter once and for all for a regular/traditional PRND+/- one and I'm all in!

I have a brand new 2025 and put BFG AT on it. This thing will be unstoppable in the snow.

That vertical infotainment screen last model was a dealbreaker for me. I'm glad automakers aren't chasing Telsa anymore (though physical buttons still seem to be disappearing).

I know Andrea says she loves speed and testing the high performance versions of these suvs (MDX, Explorer) must make her smile, but I do think these reviews are a little less useful then when you review the more popular trim levels with substantially different engines. Thanks for the reviews.

I laughed when you pumped your muscles! 😂 Not bad vehicle. Lots of room interior. Too bad no hybrid. Great video Andrea! 💪🏻💪🏻☕️☕️
