Solid state cooling has been around for centuries and was originally known as Peltier cooling, after Jean Charles Peltier who discovered the technology in 1834. The problem with Peltier coolers is that if they fail, they go from cooling to insulating, causing extreme heat and potential fires. They are a poor choice for cooling technical equipment.

Air needs to be moved, that’s how heat transfer works. So unless you line the idea of radiation passive cooling, which is extremely slow, you’re gonna need fans of some kind

Watch out, everybody! Solid-state cooling devices have been around for years, but never gained market traction because of one, fatal flaw. When a CPU or other heat-generator is shut down, it cools the air around it. This leaves a condensation residue that can degrade and destroy.

Doesn't it cause a ton of condensation after long time use?

Not quite, these things currently only work with low wattage applications. They dont compare to full size fans yet.

my gen 5 and 4 are about the same, 2-5 degree diff

That's lovely, what about DUST? One of the pros with a fan is due to large size dust does not get stuck compared to volume. How long will these last before dust makes them useless.

I understand the physics of these just not the usage at this scale

Nobody cares about cooling desktop SSDs lol. When is this going to be implemented into gaming laptops? Solid State Cooling was introduced more than a year ago and it still hasn't made its way to consumer grade high end/gaming laptops to cool the GPU/CPU.
