This episode made me feel like Thatcher waited to see Meredith one last time before he died.

This look on her face when Tatcher dies is like: Yeah, I just lost someone else.

Meredith is too kind. She did not owe Thatcher a damn thing (especially after he slapped her) and she still went to see him and comfort him in his last moments.

Meredith is parentless, but the truth is she's been that way since she was 5 years old. Her parents were shitty and didn't do right by their daughter. Her father could've fought for custody instead he decided to create a new little family and forgot all about the daughter he already had. Meredith owed him nothing, but if there's anything she's learned in her life is that you've got to say things while you have the opportunity because people die.

Meredith showed so much grace in this moment. She knew he made mistakes and he was far from a good guy but she let all that go because in the end he is her father and all he wanted was to spend his last moments getting to know her and her kids. And for her to see that he wasn’t a waste of space he did somthing good with the liver she gave him. He’s a broken man but I think she knows what that’s like. This made me sad.. i didn’t particularly like thatcher but man watching Meredith lose one more person cut somthing in me

Even though Meredith had such complicated relationships with both her parents, you really see how both Webber and Bailey filling in those roles so much throughout the show ❤❤❤

Meredith is a fictional character but yet I can't stop feeling such empathy for her. Everything she went through and everything she witnessed is so heartbreaking, enough for a person to fall into a deep depression and never want to get up again but she did and that's why I love her so much and the way she's written. She used to be this naive young intern who fell for the sexy older attending but she then became this huge realistic, inspiration. She lost her friends, husband, mother, father, sister yet she keeps her head up everyday and keeps being an amazing mother. Grey's anatomy definitely changed over the years but I can't imagine how it'll be like once we stop seeing Meredith's life. I can't even imagine how the last episode will be like

One of the best episodes in the show. Such a great episode. Meredith is my favorite character. She is so strong and brave. I didn’t really like thatcher (especially when he slapped Meredith) but seeing him die really touched me. He was at Derek’s funeral and Meredith never knew and he wanted to know her kids. Both Ellen Pompeo and Jeff Perry’s aching are amazing. What an episode. 10/10 for me.

In all honesty, I didn't like Thatcher, just the way they made him out to be on the show and I still remember him slapping Meredith, which I didn't like, even though he lost his wife due to the hiccups around the same time, it wasn't good for him to do that to Meredith, who tried everything then
But I will admit, this is a good death scene. He may have never been a good father to Meredith, he may have never been there, but at least the two got to make amends and spend his final moments together. It's even more beautiful that they talked about her children and how good her life is with them. At least he died knowing she was happy.

The actor playing Thatcher did a great job. This is what it kinda is like at the bedside of someone who has "slipped away quietly." One minute they are there, the next the light just goes out of their eyes. Death isn't pretty or romantic or easy or calm. Most people's bodies struggle for those last few breaths of air whether they want to or not. The stronger the character the tougher they fight. Being there for someone's last moments on earth is beyond words. It has changed me for the better. <-CNA

Meredith has grown so much and lost so many. She is so strong. Props to the writers, and giant props to Ellen Pompeo. She brings Mer to life for us with such style and humility.

I find it took Meredith a lot to finally be able to be in the place she is even with all the death she has faced over the years from losing her dog to her husband but a small part of me wished she would have told her dad say hi to Lexi for me it would have been even more heartfelt because you can see Mer misses her kid sister

When she rolled her eyes she was just saying in her head “why does this happen to me?”
