I wish I had come across video instruction like this when I was in my 20-30's would have eliminated decades of frustration in my golf swing! Great video!

Eric Cogorno's instructions are very elegantly explained in a very common sense manner. Funny thing is that I don't swing a 2 plane, mine is a Graves/Moe Norman Single Plane swing but I totally love Eric's explanations on some of the most common faults in golf swings. Makes total sense for a guy who swings differently - that's the broad appeal & appeal of Eric's teachings... 3 x 👍👍👍

That was excellent in teaching me a draw/fade pattern. Finally someone shows the route your hands & club should go.

Eric just putting all his greatest thoughts in one video. Having gone through this change now two yrs ago, and still grooving it, my biggest feel, versus the old forearm rotation, is the 'feeling' of the Right Palm facing down 'ALL THE F'ing TIME'. For a person such as myself who grew up playing ice hockey, it should have been easy, except it was still hard because I had a million golf swings programmed into my neurons that first needed to be disconnected. Right Palm Down / Passive Release is Golf's Cheat Code. Great video Eric.

Very interesting. I haven't seen a single video of any other instructor attempting to be as creative as you've been in this video. This is a very interesting approach to get our down-swings to the correct impact

Often I see students struggling with directional issues that also have a closed stance (lead heel about an inch or more in front of the trailing heel) again, trying to fight the fade. This drill along with a more down the line foot alignment really does help...especially with the strike. Love the clubface alignment aid...just ordered one...

This is absolutely outstanding. Look I have read, seen, talked and watched lot of videos about so many issues that you can come across and I somehow never had a video that open my mind more than you did. Thank you for that, I'm super grateful

What an eye opener! Wish I’d seen this or someone had said this 45 years ago. I’ve got a lot of unlearning to do. I hit pretty straight but could never draw an iron and compression has always been iffy and inconsistent. Bad hits are always to the right and weak.
Trying to change this starting today.

Great tips Eric. I will be trying this today and share with my son and brother. Appreciate all your contents.

Agreed, this is the best video you've made! Been watching your channel for over a year - this is a very usable drill and should fix many of my impact issues.

Eric, this was the first time I've seen anyone explain this concept as you did and I've seen hundreds of videos. I flip a bit so this will help a lot. I'm coming back to golf after a few years off and all of the teaching seems to have changed since the 2000s. I'll sign up for your analysis after I fix this and get some of Mike Malaska's concepts under my belt.

Saved this video - covered the exact same training technique with a closed clubface in my golf lesson yesterday. The timing of this video is perfect!

Man 10 handicap golfer here and I have always felt like my greatest strikes were 10 yards right of target. Bought the magnet for the face and I was lining up straight but face was open to target this whole time. Thanks for the drill!

Excellent video and demonstration. I actually recently purchased an alignment aid like you use and I found out I've been setting up with a close club head on everyone including my driver. And I've been hitting alot of hooks, mostly in play. But everything goes left. I realized by simply setting up with my hands a little higher at address this gave me more of a square club head and now I'm back to hitting my baby draws. Just tells you how important club face is and what looks square isn't always square. But also love this video and the importance of shaft lean.

Thank you for this eye opening idea. I do play with a closed face but my compensation move is to swing under plane. I think if I could get my swing back on plane, I would do the hands forward impact position.

What I try to do is on my backswing when the shaft is parallel to the ground I try to align the club face with my spine angle. I use my chest angle to the ground for this alignment. So the club face is parallel to my chest. This makes the club face closed at this point and when I add the proper shaft lean at impact the club face is square at impact.

Eric, this really work for me. This is excellent. I’ve been coming over the top since I broke my neck. I used to be a forehand now I’m a 10 but I’m playing but over the top stop that I’m crushing the ball. If you look at this, I do have a question. I actually would like to get you to be my coach and I’ll send you some video.

For me, it starts with a strong grip. This forces me to get the shaft lean. The second piece is in the takeaway just like you said. Keeping the face slightly closed means you have to get your body into the swing to square it up. This combo makes for some fantastic compression.

Great video. I’ve always had to change my wrist angle more to keep the face closed for some reason.
