Lesson on Generalized Anxiety Disorder: Diagnosis and Treatment. In this lesson, you will learn the epidemiology of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), how to easily diagnose it using the DSM-5, and what the treatment options are for GAD.

GAD is a chronic condition whereby individuals experience anxiety and worry regarding various aspects of their lives, occurring more days than not for at least 6 months. There are 6 possible somatic symptoms of GAD that co-occur and at least 3 of these are required to make a diagnosis of GAD. GAD treatment includes lifestyle modification, psychological interventions and treatments with SSRIs or SNRIs.

I suffered the borderline disorder for over 23 years, with so much anxiety not until I came across psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment actually saved my life honestly. 6 years totally clean.
Never thought I would be saying this about mushrooms

Strange. I’m 21 and have had severe generalized anxiety disorder as long as I can remember, and it’s only gotten worse with age. I wish “less anxious with age” applied to me 🙁

Couldn’t sleep normally for very long time but I didn’t fit in the depression symptoms. Now I know this thing called GAD, thank you for the helpful information !

Honestly it got worse as I got older. Started more symptoms after a traumatic event in January 2020.

I like just got diagnosed with this, I always couldn’t stop having sweaty hands in school sometimes I would ruin my papers and start over, I one time excused myself from class because I had a panic attack, I graduated and I thought my anxiety issues would go away but now being 20 my hands will literally drip in sweat standing in line to buy something and sometimes I just want to put the item back and just leave but I get through it and calm down, I just want to know how to handle this without prescription drugs

Nice information . For a relaxed life without anxiety and depression sit on a chair, back and spine as erect as possible, hands on your lap with palms upwards, close your eyes and do nothing. Be still without moving and observe your incoming--outgoing breath and body sensations for around 10-15 minutes. What is important is to be as still as possible. Plenty of thoughts will come but slowly negative thoughts will reduce slowly. The mind is reprogrammed to reach a stage of equanimity only if you do twice daily or as per your convenience. This could be life-transforming if you desire change. Take charge of your life. Best wishes. Shyaaam Sir. -Counsellor.

I have GAD and OCD but it tends to come and go randomly. Most of the time my OCD causes the anxiety but at times I can think negatively uncontrollably and it dont bother me, then the thoughts go away. I sometimes have bouts that are extremely horrible and I feel like im going crazy then a couple months later I’m back to normal again. It’s weird don’t know why but it sucks.

After the last few months of unusual behaviour from myself even before covid19. I think I might have general anxiety due to work stress. Things that’s happened: I’ve had a panic attack at work embarrassing myself because I wouldn’t cope, I felt claustrophobic one Sunday in my room and I just wanted get into my car and get out of my house but I talked myself out of leaving in worry that I would loose my parking spot 😂👍. I have issues sleeping but this has become better recently because I falling a sleep listening to audiobook. Also working from home recently has taken out a lot of work stress. Although today I just simply left my house to fill up my car with petrol then return home and I found that I could feel myself shaking but I wasn’t physically shaking. I do worry about when I do return to work to the office if my stress will return. #advice
