Maxi dresses with that shape are super easy to make! All you need to do is trace the current dress and extend the bottom line down and out a bit to get it to the right length!

For me as a 6’1” plus size woman, having a sewing machine is a must. I tailor almost all my clothes and I see my own skirts from scratch.

I’m glad I found your channel! My late wife was 6’3”, and sewed everything she wore- she had to, because things were so hard for her to find off the shelf. She made slacks, tops, dresses, up to an including her wedding dress.
She found it an invaluable life skill.

I wish you the best!

When I was little I would do the opposite… turning skirts into dresses lol 😆 ❤

Spend the $20 bucks and send it to a seamstress to finish those raw hems. And take it up if you want it shorter. Trust me, unless you know what you’re doing, you’ll spend more time and effort trying to do it yourself than that $20 for a seamstress.

That dress with any big sweater on top (yellow maybe) would look so fab!

If you don’t end up wanting to take the waist in- an easy fix I do all the time is just a cute knot in the front- you can secure that really quickly with a stitch or two but it makes for a cute cinch in and works fast!

If you bought a sewing kit you could make a maxi dress in that style so so easily.

I'm convinced that pretty much anything could look cute on you. You're just so pretty! ❤❤

If you do decide to grab a sewing kit to finish it up I have 3 tips that you may or may not already know.
1) use the herringbone stitch. Unlike a backstitch or running stitch it'll have some stretch to it so your hard work won't come undone too easily by you pulling it on.
2) Ignore any advice saying to not pull "too hard" that's useful for decorative sewing not garment sewing.
3) this is technically 2 things but don't make your thread too long or you'll constantly have to untangle it as you pull it through and after you thread the needle tie the two ends together to sew this will make your stitches stronger

Am I the only one who liked it as a dress on her? It was cute..

Take the top of the skirt and fold it over outwardly so it makes a thick waistband. You could do the same with the top too. If you like the look, it’s a simple stitch to add some elastic and make it tighter for everyday wear!

The unintentional flare at the bottom of the skirt is so cute!
