Trinitarian, Unitarian -- or BINITARIAN?! Is Jesus 'LORD' for Jehovah's Witnesses?

New Testament scholar Larry Hurtado, a specialist in early Church worship, believes even the first Jewish Christian disciples had no difficulty reconciling their monotheism with a reverent, even worshipful view of Christ. Hurtado explains how the New Testament use of the word "Lord" for Jesus is impossible to account for -- unless one assumes early believers knew Christ to be Divine.

All worship and glory goes to our Savior and Creator. He was sent in our behalf to save us and reconcile us back to perfection, and a relationship with his Father after we reach perfection. Praise and Honor to the LORD of LORDS, KING of KINGS.
Colossians 3:17
And all, whatever you might do in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Thank you for all you do David & Vivian.

Maybe I am a spiritual infant, and find this hard to comprehend, but after watching this clip a few times I agree with you the LORD OF LORDS can only be the christ Jesus,

The JW's have flip-flopped concerning the use of "Him" in Romans 10:11 more than any other Bible verse that I have seen as to if the Father is being referred to or the Lord Jesus.
In Romans 10:12 they admit the possibility the "Lord" could refer to the Lord Jesus, but they believe it refers to the Father.
In Romans 10:13 they insist the "Lord" refers to the Father. In Romans 10:14 they believe the Father is being referred to.

In the trinity, I could not find a complete connection as a being that is deservingof praise and worship in the Spirit. Not that the Spirit is useless, but even the Son said he would not speak of himself or by himself, he would only speak what he was told and what he heard

I hate the argument "Lord is the substitute for YHWH in the Septuagint" because it ignores the reason for the substitution! To hide the name- so Lord was to obfuscate the name not to make a one to one correspondence. It was based on the resulting ambiguity that they were able to make YHWH texts applicable to Lord Jesus

One would wonder why the apostle could not have been specific since Joel was being quoted.

I learn the Binitarian Godhead wayback in 1989. I also learn why is the Father Greater than Christ. There are similarities and dissimilarities between the Father and Son. Both are worshiped in the Bible and can found in the early Church. The Son origin with his Father and he was the duplicate Son from the Father.

My question is, what is a god, lower case. If John 1:1 “a god” what does that imply? Think about it, because it’s not saying there was anyone else, and without anyone else what does “a god” mean?

Once again I think many are getting tripped up over semantics over trinity language and doctrine. Where man attempts to define the exact definitions of God he is bound to make statetments or draw lines which are heretical on all sides of the debate.

The bible from what I can discern without getting dogmatic, and i would assume most of us could agree on, is saying that Jesus shares in the divine essence that existed with the Father. He is the only one begotten by the Father therefore they are the only ones who are able to have the essence of true Godliness and consequently worthy of divine respect and worship. The Father creates the world through Jesus Christ. You'd be surprised how many JWs especially younger JWs are not really familiar with this or perhaps don't appreciate the full gravity of this fact.

This makes us the product of both the Father AND the Son. Do we not have some duty to honour and worship the son for creating our world and giving his life for us? Paul makes it clear that the Lord of this earth since his resurrection is Jesus Christ, the Father has stepped back bestowing on Honour on his son like a proud Father where he wants even the angels to Bow before him.

In the context of Paul's comments in Romans why do Jews need to call on Yahwehs name when they already do? The point was that they needed to have faith in Jesus name (a belief in heart and confession of mouth), Christ has been given Lordship by the Father and when all is reconciled Christ will hand it back to the Father. The Jews who had rejected christ and already called on the name of their Lord (Yahweh) could have disregarded the rest of his message if Paul's intention was that he was referring to Jehovah as the NWT has rendered it.

Enjoyed the video. You quote the scripture about having to believe 'Jesus' was raised from the dead - jws's don't believe 'Jesus' was raised as they believe he is now 'Michael' the Archangel not Jesus!!!! just a thought.

David and Vivian I want you to ponder on this, All teachings in this system of things that we live in, belong to the god of this world. All glory praise and worship he demands of us, he has manipulated and usurped The Almighty Fathers Glory and praise that belongs to him. This system is designed to praise and worship creation not the Creator. All names have been changed to give praise to the host of the heavens and the things in them. One of many examples is the name Adam(Atum)is taken after the Atom molecule. I'll leave it there for now.
