You can also buy 2x2s and use 2 on each side and cross at top and still run one across the top

With rambling indeterminates and a hefty wind you may end up with a toppled over trellis.

For anyone watching without power tools, you can buy 2X2 furing strips for 3$~ each so you don't have to cut. Using 2X2 for the legs and a 1x2 for the top is ideal if you're going to use nails.

Then use nails if you don't have a drill.
