Houses are WAY out of line with incomes in much if not most of the country. Houses have to come down by over 50% in many markets to get anywhere near logical.

Ramsey has the safest strategy for everyone but this guy is definitely a go getter. The housing market bubble will get worse. Get out of debt and that house now while you can. You got the income to get an apartment and focus on high interest savings to drop it on Realestate when the market drops. Look for a triplex and a retail building that you can rent out immediately and cash flow. You got a long life to buy a big house, don't let a big house buy you.

Owning a few properties in Oregon myself - don't sell the property you're living in, the market here is exploding with Portland's overflow spreading across the rest of the state.

Average rent is $1200/month and his mortgage payment is almost $2000? Best to move to an apartment instead of another house to get out of any other debt you might have, but not sure about family members as an apartment is just a one or 2 bedroom with a single bathroom.

If ou have equity and can downsize (most people can downsize) then yes, I would. Owning a house is not a necessity, modern culture has forced that idea on us. Being house poor is still being poor.

Mortgage rates r very low right now. It might b a good time if the loan is right. But get rid of credit card debt at insane interest levels.
