Was surfing in Hawaii and when paddling I saw a dolphin jumping over a sea turtle and two rainbows in the background all at once. I’m not kidding. I swore I was in a blacklight poster.

Hawaiians are different because we are so isolated. Random people cannot just roll thru town, commit a crime and drive to Mexico or Canada to escape. They must fly or float out of the state. So in general Hawaiians are less paranoid than mainlanders. Plus our population is controlled by zoning laws and limited resources, so everyone you meet probably knows someone you know or you might be related to you thru marriage somehow. Its kinda a large small town if that makes sense.

FYI: Hawaiian is a race. It's not like New Yorker or Californian. Those who live in Hawaii, but are not of Hawaiian ancestry are called Locals or Islanders.

Us Hawaiians are like any of you. We chill and then hustle. We have some people we are proud of and some we’d like to forget.

Haven't watched the video yet but living on an island thousands of miles away might have something to do with it

Hawaiians work their asses off to live there now...it's not a native garden free-for-all there like people think. It's every bit as commercial as California or New York. Folks are struggling to stay there, if not for the tourism industry a lot of middle/lower class people would move to the mainland.

I've lived in a beach community all my life and I agree with everything they're saying. The ocean has a deep affect on you that is hard to define. Good for the mind body and soul I believe.

As a Native Hawaiian...the Land, the Sea, Spiritually grounds me, helps me focus on my Akua my Lord God, my Savior, I cannot help but be humbled every time I'm close to it. God created the ocean and the Islands, the valleys and the forest, the mountains and the fields...the heavens above the stars at night and sunrise in the morning..and sunsets in the evening...the moon above...Oh how humbled I am knowing our Lord God has blessed us being in Awe seeing & experiencing the creation of his wonders....Aloha Akua!

Just got back from Kauai. Most beautiful place I have ever seen. Being raised around all that beauty must make a difference.

Sounds like they are racist to anyone not born there. Interesting.

Its all polynesian lands.

New Zealand (Maori)
Hawaii
Samoa
Etc.

Spirituality comes above all else in our cultures, and we see other polynesians as cousins. Thats why we are all called "the friendly giants of the pacific".

People think we are a war culture but our people only had to adapt to be that way due to natural selection and limited resources...once we had enough it was all jokes, smiles and FOOD (second most important thing in our culture nah jokes xD)

It's culture. Island life is just different. Not the ocean, not the volcano. We are just loving people that are always looking out for one another. We have the fighting spirit inside of us not because we are looking for trouble, but rather we're very protective of what we love. Be it the land or the people.

Wouldn’t the fact that Hawaii was essentially its own nation(kingdom) be the biggest factor in its difference from the rest of the states?

The biggest difference is
the mainlanders kick people in the face when they’re down and the Hawaiians always shake hands after fight””

I must be from a different heritage .. I love staring at the Mountains. Does the same thing for me as he explains about staring out to sea.
