*Not just Hawaiians hate influencers* 😂

My husband is from Maui and he would love nothing more than to be able to afford to move back home. That’s just not a possibility for us though because everything revolves around the tourism industry, including housing. We could never buy a home there because the prices have ballooned due to millionaires buying homes to use as vacation rentals.

Correction ... everybody hates influencers. Even influencers hate other influencers.

It's actually hilarious. He is dating a white influencer. Clearly, he doesn't hate them enough.

As a Kanaka Maoli myself. We just are saying we don't respect when influencers say tourists are privileged to do whatever they want. We may share OUR nation, but that doesn't mean they are privileged to disrespect our Aina and people. Mahalo ❤️

The rich and powerful ruin everything. Im from Utah and people are no longer able to afford homes there because of the rich and greedy. I know its nowhere close to what Hawaiians have to deal with, but its heartbreaking.

He’s so connected to the land that he decided to marry someone who wasn’t born on it.

Let me add to the complexity. This is not only a Hawaiian culture thing, special to their islands. I’m also from an island where the culture is protective, but we rely on tourism so there’s a bit of a war between islanders and mainlanders. And with government, imposing laws, etc. Plus look at Ireland. My point is there’s many islands who are going through similar feelings but rely on tourism. Some residents can be the loudest and try to drive people away, but I think the majority of locals just want visitors to respect the space and not negatively impact the daily way of life. You can come live here but you can’t bring your own rules and want to change things, driving the prices of things so high locals can’t live there. That’s happening in MANY places not just Hawaii.

As Puerto Rican I am extremely grateful to be part of the US. Even though it was tooken over from the Natives.. but look at it... we got a mix of so many races and technology and protection. We're all a team.. every Race played an important role in history here so that the US could be what it is.❤

Im a Native American. I was stationed in Hawaii. Seeing the beautiful land, the close sense of family, reading their history and listening to their stories of how they feel. . .can't say I blame them.
