It is insanely hard to get hired as a new grad in Labor and Delivery, so you must be seriously impressive! That is so awesome!

I started out in NICU as a new grad ( Neonatal Intensive Care) and did that until retirement at age 70. Many many nurses told me to at least have a year or two of medical/surgical nursing first . Glad I did not listen and just went to an area I knew I would love!!! ❤

I'm getting induced on the 12th and I honestly hope I get a nurse like you you seem so sweet and understanding to people
Edit: I didnt expect this amount of support, thank you for everyone wishing me good luck and telling me I'll be a good mother it means a lot ❤️

Good for you! I still see a ton of pushback on new grad RNs working in specialized areas. I got a ton of this myself 15 years ago when I wanted to go straight into cardiac ICU. It makes no sense to me. All of the new RNs I’ve seen choose to work in specialty areas have been dedicated, hardworking, and passionate about their areas of practice. They all picked up the role quickly and gave great care. Why make them bored for years in an area they don’t feel passion for? We need those passionate nurses working in specialty areas.

So refreshing to see people in Healthcare that actually love doing their job. ❤❤❤

I like the way she explicitly listed the reasons she regretted starting out in Labor and Delivery as a newgrad.

My plans to go get certified as an emt to put myself through school and being in labor and delivery or a midwife is what I want to do

It's so nice to see a RN that has a positive experience doing bedside care. Most nurses I see on here are so negative. You are a light in the dark!

My gf is saving up for nursing at college, and I’ll say here what I told her; Nurses are underrated, they are like the lifeblood of hospitals. Without them doctors would have to do everything

I left L&D as a Surgical Tech and graduated as an RN to start in the OR (operating room) as a new grad. Eventually, i want to go back to L&D as a nurse. I hope I still have a chance. I never forgot how to scrub into a C-section

I still remember my rockstar of a postpartum nurse. She was so kind and helpful I’m hoping and praying I get another Angel like her for this next baby. Thank you for all you do ❤

If only I had a pretty face I'd be doing "reasons I did something without listing the reasons videos' all day 😕..

I absolutely loved my team of nurses when I had my daughter in April 2020! I couldn’t wear a mask because I well… had the unfortunate overactive gag reflex in the morning, ahem… and at the start of lockdowns, I felt nervous for all of them and myself, my newborn. They were the best and helped me believe I could do this. Always thank your nurses Truly a bunch of badass people.
