My Comcast 2Gbps Internet Upgrade

On my most recent visit to the Comcast website, I noticed I was eligible to upgrade to the "Gigabit X2" service tier! This service, which is provided over the existing copper wire infrastructure maxes out at 2Gbps download and 100Mbps for uploads. I made this video to share my journey through the installation process and to show off the speeds the upgrade provides.

Dude I wasn't getting the speed I was paying for. I had my ethernet running to my PC in 1. Now from four I am getting 1400 mbps instead of 948 mbps. Thank you so much!!!

I was a big fan of HFC tech for years, but FTTH is the way to go.

I have been capped at 400Mbps and 30Mpbs when I pay for 1200down and 200 up... Xfinity has never provided the speeds I have paid for since I started and I am worried it will be the same for me with this new bandwidth.

I just upgraded to the same service on Cox requiring the same modem and similar speeds -- about 2200 down and 100 up. I called and changed back modem to the Motorola Mb8611 modem i had and for about 2 minutes I was able to hit those same speeds on the motorola until they downgraded my service back to Gigabit. Sucks that they require this modem.

when you test your speed, you'd need to find a site that downloads & uploads at the speeds you want, if their top upload speed is only 80 Mbps, that is what your test will show. All I wish they'd do is get rid of their lag, & jittery connections.

Nice video! Did you notice any ping improvements with this upgrade? Or did it stay about the same?

YES, that lower right port when facing the rear of it has a TINY red mark on it. My advice is to use that no matter what. Why the hell don't they make that clear to us? I only have Gig speed, but I want the feeling of knowing it is all the best it can be.

I left Xfinity for at&t fiber 2 months ago before then I jumped on the Xfinity 2x 2gig speed as soon as it became available here in Jacksonville FL I had all multi gig equipment and multi gig NICs connected with cat 6 and speed test after speed test and the speed never came no where close to 2gbps

I'd like to know if you tested the Xfinity XB8 gateway with WiFi 6E vs your existing wireless router. I'm currently running my Xfinity gateway in bridge mode with my own router as well. I want to try the performance of WiFi 6E vs a dual band WiFi 6 mesh system with two satellites from Netgear.

Okay so I was getting around 850Mbps download and 350Mbps upload...

Switched to ethernet port 4 and my download speed increased to 1220Mbps...

Still wondering what else I can do to get up to that 2Gbps speed...

We have download of 2Mbps and upload of 1.5 Mbps. Yes you read that right. Mbps not Gbps. I clocked it with the online speed test after disconnecting all other devices. I think it’s time for a new plan 😅

Dump 👎 your Comcast cable stock because people are dumping their expensive cable service like a bad habit and streaming content for far less money. I did and saved over $100
