They can also be confabulating. So, if they don't know what happened, their brain will fill in with something that seems like it makes sense.

I wish these videos had come out before my grandmother died. She drove my mother and her siblings insane right till the end. She hated me, so it’s not like I miss her or anything but it would’ve made it easier on my mom. The stress eventually lead to her getting pretty sick herself.

I went to a locksmith and got a dummy set of keys that look like theirs but can't start the car. Usually just giving them "their keys" comforts them

One of the craziest thing my Mamaw accused me of stealing were her bras and panties. But in her defense we were clueless about dementia and we moved her into a new house which made her just spiral. But that’s why she thought we were stealing bc we were moving her stuff. I wish we could go back bc I’ve learned so much since she passed. We really made it so much worse and I feel so guilty bc she could have lived a few more years but our actions accelerated her dementia.

My dad would mix many memories all at once. Thinking that the house where he lived after getting married was the same house he was raised at. And had "vivid memories" of his siblings at that house.

Whenever my grandma argued with me my mom and uncle would look at each other so shocked because they noticed the things she would say and be mad about were events that actually happened but when they were teens so it was like like she was living in her 30s again

Thank you for making these. I'm sure it's helping so many people who are struggling with taking care of their sick loved ones

Right. They are NOT LYING. We need to stop blaming people with dementia for the behavioral manifestation of their disease.

My great aunt used to wear her own wedding ring and some rings she inherited from family. One by one, they all went missing and she blamed one of the other woman at the old folks home. They both had dementia and to this day nobody knows where the rings actauly went

I’m just starting this journey with my mum and it’s really hard. She tells people horrible things about me, that are all lies. But then she will laugh. It’s exhausting mentally and hard watching my dad go through it with her. Takes a lot of patience and love.

I am so glad that all my eldery relatives with dementia/Alzheimer are easy to handle. They are really just the sweetest. I don't think we could care for them at home if they were agressive. I hope that when i get old I'll be as peaceful as they are.

It's even worse is if the person with dementia wants to drive somewhere. I knew my mother would go ballistic if we told her she couldn't drive any more, so we just put the keys where she wouldn't find them and drove her wherever she wanted to go.

Bruh I feel like this happens too when a person gets triggered and the flashbacks start combining with real life and they totally misinterpret what’s happening

Not only this but they could be forgetting that they are forgetting that they forgot to forget.

My mom has dementia i just made a third house key attached to another lanyard. This set is a pink key with pink and white lanyard. This is way when we find the previous ones, I will know and keep track. Last set was blue key with blue flowered lanyard. I have searched all over, under furniture and inside her clothes pockets. I don't know where she could have put them.

I suffer from paranoid panic attacks. So saying that I don't have dementia but I have suffered the paranoia and it is scary as hell. You don't know who to trust if anyone.
