I remember at the cheesesteak place I worked ate, I always gave my recommendation, then said what’s popular, but insisted that no matter what you got it’d be great, cause the meat and bread were always fresh, hell the meat was cut fresh daily

Agreed I walked into a job once and got 0 training and they put me right to work and my co workers got frustrated lol I ended up just walking out. Always train your employees think long term not short term

Bit of a horror story about training. I wasn't there but one day a bar back at the restaurant was being trained how to use the *industrial* juicer. However the person teaching him was distracted or talking to someone, can't quite remember, there was a piece that got stuck and he went to get it unstuck with his hand. It did some pretty nasty things and he is lucky to even still have most of his hand.

I honestly feel like that last tip is so underutilized. Yes, each staff member has their own title and place, but if you teach everyone a little more than just what their job title is, then you'll see how buttery smooth the staff members can coordinate and adjust to specific situations.

These are relevant even in my job. I work engineering at a power plant, and there’s plenty of book smart people around, but not everyone knows how to work together. Not everyone knows how to be part of a team.
