Gisela Terwindt, MD, PhD, Leiden University, Leiden, Netherlands, discusses a study aimed at identifying DNA methylation changes associated with treatment response in chronic migraine patients with medication overuse. Almost 100 patients with chronic migraine were evaluated in the study. Treatment responders were compared with non-responders to identify methylation changes associated with treatment response. Several factors were found to be involved in methylation changes, with some being implicated in synapses and even in methylation itself. This interview took place at the 16th European Headache Congress (EHC) in Vienna, Austria.
