Pro tip on the yeast! Whether you use active dry yeast or instant yeast, if the recipe says to rise it or not then follow it! Instant yeast just means it's ready to be used and doesn't need to be activated/rested with water first! I do recommend letting the dough to rise for this recipe for the best results! Just a tip from someone who grew up eating beignets in new orleans, beignets are traditionally SMOTHERED in that powdered sugar. They also pair really well with coffee.

Our Kenyan chef used to make this similar recipe, but with mini pieces, and it was delicious and crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Oh how I missed it.
