You can eat the fat of an infected animal though.
A decent combo I like to do in the early game is light fires in the well house. The walls condense the smoke and glow while keeping blizzards from putting it out, meanwhile drinking through the back wall for cover. Otherwise if you're good to go just sit in the well house while drinking.
A lot of people haven't realized you can wash your hands in the snow as well.

Wearing a rag armband is quite useful now. You basically always have access to a single rag to start a fire with in emergencies & it frees up a few slots.

I've been playing DayZ for years now, but I've got this weird sickness. I ate cooked reindeer meat but I immediately started puking. And I started to grunt like I was in pain from using a infected rag.

(Did not use dirty rags to heal. I ate cooked food)

I played and managed to survive for 6 hours with my friends but I died from the cold. Idk what sickness it was. It was so annoying, and I took every pill in the game. No cure.

They need to fix the cook/thaw time of the camp stove. It’s ridiculous that you will go through an entire small propane bottle before a frozen cook pot of water thaws.

You can pop a vitamin after eating the snow

You actually can eat hot food. If absolutely necessary, when you take super small bites before the character actually starts chewing just let go. And repeat, it takes time but your food will go up, and your health wont go down unless you eat a little too much

Glow plugs are for the bunker!! 🤭 he left that out as a little gag. But have no fear I am here. Glow plug gets you into the bunker 😱

Chlorine tablets also purify the water that comes from collecting snow. There's probably more ways too

You can eat the snow, just do so in small amounts and not too frequently. Snow has kept me alive for days now, only JUST found my first clean water source 😅

This DLC is really hard I have to make a campfire every 20 minutes because it’s always freezing and my heat buffs go away. I also think it’s dumb the devs didn’t add any drinkable springs on some islands so I don’t have to drive my boat all the way to the coast where freshies spawn. I’m currently one day in surviving with my duo we have a boat stashed but it’s just obnoxious sometimes how difficult it is to survive
