Bruges is one of the most beautiful cities that I ever visit and I think now in the fall season it is the most breathtaking, the medieval spirit of the city, the hot chocolate, the calmness everything it feels like you are in a movie. 🎥

I live in belgium and I would add an important point : Keep in mind that each city has a french name and a dutch name, and they can be very different, so you could have severe trouble to know where you are if nobody tells you this fact. Also the trainstations use the name depending of their region, so everything will be in french in wallonia, but once the train will reach a dutch city the name will be in dutch so you could believe you aren't at the good place and stay in the train, you won't be noticed when you cross the regions and if you don't be carefull you could believe you are in a different country in 10 minutes, that's totaly normal in Belgium. Be careful because most tourist I meet are lost or struggle to find some places. Also most people doesn't speak both languages, so I suggest to use english if you can. I would also add that the country is very windy, and the wind comes from the north, so when it's 20°C outside it's like 15°C. Only 2 or 3 month at summer are sunny and tolerable, the rest of the yeat it's rainy and cold. You could also struggle to find a public bathroom, according to the law each city must have toilet, but they are often very well hidden, broken, or dirty, so go to the toilet at the trainstations or in a shop/coffee. The Ardenens are nice but be carefull with bikes, because it's never flat, if you are bad a sport it won't be cool for you. The bus are often kind of random when you leave a big city, the could be very late, I personnaly don't trust them as a citizen when I have a meeting. The trains are often late and you can easily miss your correspondence, they are also overcrowed, especially during friday and sunday. Overcrowed means it's impossible to sit. You can also visit Walibi Belgium if you like RollerCoasters, or Pairi Daiza if you like animals, it's a super nice theme park, but it's only good during summer, I suggest to visit the caves when it's cold outside, it's less overcrowded and the temperature is always the same underground.

Just got back from Antwerp. Wow! The food, the beer, the architecture are tremendous. Plus, it’s a pretty good bike city. I biked all over and across the Scheldt river in the underground tunnel.

Great video. I moved to Belgium from the UK twenty years ago and never regretted it. Such a small country with a rich history and culture. The people here are friendly and generally well educated. The food and beers are excellent, standard of living is high and a fantastic health service. I would also add Liege and Namur to the list of cities to visit. you can also be at the coast in an hour from Brussels and visit Knokke which although over developed has great shopping and some great seaside restaurants, worth a day visit. The negatives are that there are way too many chocolate shops, especially in Bruges and Brussels is not the cleanest city in the world! If anyone is thinking of visiting Belgium and needs some advice then let me know in the replies section.

Don't forget Liège/Luik is also worth a visit (old medieval center, city on the Meuse river, nice view from the heights...) ;)

I've lived and studied in Bruges for over 5 years and having seen many different places around the world, I always feel like home. Despite the incredible amount of tourists wandering around parts of the city, it never feels overcrowded (or loud) as it were. With its many alleys and tiny streets, you can easily feel like travelling back in time.

One thing I like about Belgium, is their chocolate. I buy them at my trader joes store here in California. Best chocolate I've ever had, and it's cheap as hell, too.

I am blown away how beautiful this country is. I am travelling there in June to visit some friends and I can’t believe it.

Coming from Canada the history I see is remarkable!
