fun fact about immortal, a fan told the creator in a letter that they felt immortal looked like lincoln, so the creator decided to add it into the lore

60 years for Omni-Man equaling 1.6 human years is actually quite horrifying when you think about it.

I love Invincible because on the surface it seems like yet another superhero show that says that the very notion of a superhero helping people is absurd, but when watching the show it makes you root for Mark when he becomes the heroic persona Omni-Man was merely pretending to be. It's not a deconstruction of the superhero genre; it's a reconstruction of it.

We all know omni man is right, that’s what makes Mark such an amazing character. He knows the pain he’ll face but does it anyway and sticks to his ideals.

This has unintentionally explained exactly why we shouldn't have elderly people in leadership positions

1000 years could come and go, and the Matpat era of theories will never feel insignificant. Thank you, the entire theory team, for so many wonderful years

The best part about Season 1 to Season 2 is you see Nolan's reaction from the line of "You, Dad. I'd have you." There's no time jump. We get to see the torment that line sends him through as we follow him through space. He completely loses all faith in his cause because he realized Mark was right and that they'd still have each other to help each other through their grief of losing all their friends and loved ones and watching Earth turn to dust. It finally cracked Nolan's psyche and he almost kills himself because of what he did to his own son.

Matpat using invincible to teach me more about human brain development in a 20 minute video than a semester long psychology class

Even from the little bit of show we have seen, Nolan’s character is shaped by social conditioning that he begins to change as soon as mark is born. The special that shows Mark and Nolan early on, Nolan visibly shudders at the thought of harming Mark when he’s so young. Neural plasticity is heavily influenced by usage in cognitively normal individuals and can be improved in individuals with impairments. Earth being the first planet Nolan is used to conquer in the way it is all the way to his interactions with the bug people emphasize that.

Its cool to see Matpat nailing the points on the head here, especially considering that Nolan gained empathy after having a second child and forming new relationships

Nolan and Mark have such an interesting dynamic with season 2. We've seen evil men turn good and our heroes broken, but having a father-son dynamic where each party is in pain. Yet, Mark capitalizes on his anger to shield him from pain, utterly unaware of how similar he is to Nolan, a unique storytelling device. I can't wait to see the second half of season 2.

On that life span comparison, the show itself does a pretty good job bringing Omni Man's perspective to us in season 2 episode 4 with the bug people, which they said only live to an equivalent of 1 human year
only minutes later, we see them slaughtered by other viltrumites
It was almost as if the show was asking if we feel the same empathy for a species that lives that short

It was crazy to see the number of people who were watching it say something along the lines of "well you were gonna die in a month or so anyways"

Matpat really said "Friendship was the true saviour all along". An old school style of Film Theory. Love to see it..

JK Simmons really does crush it as Onmi-Man. His performance is nothing short of legendary.

Nolan doesn't completely lack empathy, though. There are a couple moments where he shows regret for his actions and how he's hurt the people around him. When Cecil tells him the the guardians were his friends, so he knew that Nolan didn't do it for the fun of it. And as he says this, he looks away and does the same thing when Cecil brings up debbie and mark. There's another moment when he thinks about attacking debbie, before snapping out of it and is disappointed and angry at himself for even considering it.

Bro, as someone in the field of health science and with a sister in the field of psychology, I applaud you in your use of biology to make your point. As always, your research is impeccable

Viltrumites have their own healing factor aswell that lets them survive near death experiences all the time. it may not be on the immortals level but it would still in theory help their brains slowly regenerate more synapses across their long life spans.
