Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has dismissed the government's budget as a "sticking plaster" for an economy that is "in need of major surgery".

Responding to Chancellor Jeremy Hunt, Sir Keir called the Tories a "divided party" and accused them of "dressing up stagnation as stability as their expiry date looms ever closer".

He described the UK as "a country set on a path of managed decline, falling behind our competitors, the sick man of Europe once again."

“The lettuces may be out but the turnips are in” is the most multi-layered put-down ever from Starmer.

And I live in Edinburgh... and £8.6 million for these festivals? These festivals get plenty of money as it is, and Edinburgh Fringe due to the amount of 'money' involved has become increasingly "exclusive" I feel, and even 'more' money I would not have thought is the solution?

When I was in UK. I saw empty boarded up streets under a constant grey sky, litter everywhere.
Homeless people sleeping in doorways. Opioid addicts out of their mind and women so drunk they urinated on the streets. It's a sad declined country

Im all for oppositions simply criticising whats been implemented BUT they should be made to oppose with an alternative policy that clearly competes with the proposed one. Half a job, anyone can criticise and condemn!

Starmer is incapable of saying it, but we all know why we are lagging behind comparative economies, and why growth is a very distant goal - BREXIT.

Yes and one of the reasons is due to the Unions who have Starmer etc in their pockets. Not something he will ever want to mention.
