There's a lot to discuss today regarding Starship! The second ever integrated flight test of the world's most powerful launch vehicle exploded, twice. Furthermore, Elon Musk revealed that production of Starship Version 1 has ended, and Version 2 will feature many upgrades, which we'll discuss today! Beyond Starship, we saw 2 Falcon 9 launches, a successful launch of North Korea's Chŏllima 1, which has sparked tensions in the South, a Chinese Long March 2D launch, Ariane VI performs a major hotfire test on the pad, and Intercept Games unveiled some amazing new footage of Kerbal Space Program 2's upcoming thermal re-entry system. All of this and more, enjoy!

Matt and Scott are the best and most reliable source of space news. Love these updates, Matt.

Especially since any news has been banned from the main social media platforms in my country

7:22 function over form? What was about the nose cone of starship becoming pointier? Elon stated, that it was literally less efficient, but he liked the look of it

7:20 The pic of the flaps at the very top is incorrect. Leeward is on the side AWAY from the wind, so the flaps moving leeward would mean they would be moving down the barrel of Starship (second stage). Towards the nose would be windward. Since the Starship (second stage) is likely to be lengthened, then moving the flaps down could keep the attachment points for Mechazilla in roughly the same place, if not the exact same place, so the tower would not need to be changed.

NGL, my heart died a little when I heard the combination of "KSP" and "eSports".

Six RVAC’s makes hotstaging easier by not needing to light the sea level engines until after it can’t affect propellant slosh on the booster.

They seem to have a pretty serious heatshield problem that may require a redesign

V2. 6 Raptor Vacuum engines and 5M longer and will use some 3mm steel as well as the normal 4mm steel.

Not quite true to say that Europe doesn't have an operational rocket at the moment. The original version of Vega is still flying.

Maybe one day KSP2 will be as good as KSP and I'll consider getting it.

I understand the logic behind Arine VI's SRBs, but man does it look awkward compared to the V.

I think they will still use the 3 engi until they reach orbit.
Each one of them costs quite a bit, so I assume they won't want to invest before they get a good chance to orbit, and then put payloads on it to improve performance.

I guess as with the booster there will be less shielding arround the engines which might account for some of the weight loss.

Im a little late here but i think spaceX might encorporate carbon fiber into starship v2 in some areas that arent affected by heat as much to reduce dry mass.
