Living in a Town of Two

Gross, Nebraska is a small town. That's actually over-selling it. In fact, only two people live there. Mike and Mary Finnegan are the sole residents, and run a bar in the incorporated town. But Gross is a metropolis compared to nearby Monowi, where Elsie Eiler is the only resident. Eiler, the town’s mayor, also runs a tavern. Small towns, big stories.

I was born in Boyd county and went to both those bars many times. I knew the couple from gross very well. Nice and honest people and great food.

I am 7 miles away from monowi and gross is 10 miles north of lynch. I know the people personally. I've been to both bars and have eaten there many times! They have great food!

This reminds me of a small town in North Dakota where my grandma grew up. It's called Leffert, and I recently went to visit. They have a house, an extremely worn down bank vault, a diner hall, a shut down school, and a handful of houses. I was literally able to run laps around the town, as it had only needed two roads going through it to reach every building.
