Everything in me wants to criticize this, but for people who like to make random shit with pvc, this could be kinda handy. I want to do this and pressure test it just to see. I bet it's good for up to 15 psi if you don't strip it like this guy

You all seem to not understand this is just for a garden hookup. It’s not plumbing for a house. So there’s really no harm in this tip. He’s basically just showing if you have those materials you can use this method instead of buying an actual threaded pvc pipe. It’s also worth noting that when they actually put the threads on the pipe they’re basically doing the same thing he’s doing here.

Nice but unfortunately, the portion that melted has near half the depth now, and if you put enough pressure on the side which will either come loose or break

For a field repair on say, a farm, i would give this a shot. Less teflon though
