How to Front Squat
When performed properly, the front squat is great for targeting the quads and the upper back. This can help you build that X-frame. There are a few common mistakes when performing the front squat:
1. Not keeping the body tall
2. Not pushing your weight through your entire foot
3. Not keeping your elbows up
4. Improper bar placement
In this video, we go through the common mistakes and how to fix them. With any exercise, go light first and then add weight after you’ve mastered the movement.
We’ll also go over three different ways to grip or hold the bar:
1. Clean grip
2. Cross arm
3. With wrist wraps
With these variations, anyone can front squat!

Nice tips. Today I did the front barbell squat for the first time because I wanted to try something other than the normal back squat. The bar placements were my major challenge but thanks to this video, I'll get a hang of it...

I'm still finding videos I've missed. Glad I found this one. I love doing these! I used to have tendency to not hold my elbows up. But now I'm always checking my form.

Erin, great tips. I actually like doing the front squat using a cable machine. It’s another technique you demonstrated in another video and I don’t need to worry about barbell placement.

Hi Erin. I did heavy front squats Monday this week and LOVE them! I find by engaging my deep abdominal muscles and holding them in maintains better upright posture throughout the move. What about feet though? Toes pointing straight ahead or angled? Thoughts?

I have enough mobility to use the clean grip but it sure feels in the wrists when you´re not used to the movement. Good to see you Erin!

Just did front squats this morning. It took forever for me to develop the flexibility to do the clean grip but now it’s my favorite.

Erin id love youto share all your tricks to improve squat technique and how to evolve from bodyweight to weight and keep a perfect form. I struggle with squats and i avoid them altogether. I enjoy hip thrust and deadlifts way more but id like to improve my squats. Thanks!
