BODY CAM: Police fatally shoot pregnant shoplifting suspect

Twenty-one-year-old Ta’Kiya Young died Thursday in Blendon, Ohio, outside Columbus, when police shot and killed her. Police Chief John Belford says the officers were at a supermarket on an unrelated matter when an employee told them people were trying to flee with stolen items. One officer went to the driver’s side of Young’s car and told her to stop, while the other moved in front of the vehicle. Belford says Young accelerated forward and the officer in front of the vehicle fired one shot through the front windshield, killing her.

So what I saw was a woman refusing to follow police instructions and then she drove her car into another officer. She assaulted an officer with a deadly weapon and was killed. It is indeed tragic, but I find it totally irresponsible when people think they have the right to ignore lawful police instructions and the incident spiral out of control.

The instructions from the police were clear. She asked why. They told her. She attempted to run the officer down. Her lawyer is making insane claims.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm black, and I agree with the cops. If she was truly innocent, then she should have just gotten out the car and went back into the store with the cops so they can verify that she wasn't one of the shoplifter. But she decided to run instead of just following orders. If she had done that, they could have seen she was pregnant, and she would be alive today. Even in the original video, she could be seen getting in her car quickly and starting it up as if she was fleeing.

This is the result of using a car as a weapon and attempting to run over the officer. By the woman doing this "she" put the baby at risk, not the officers. She is responsible for her actions. It is time to stop blaming others for her actions...

Can anyone tell me why they couldn't let her go and picked her up later ?
She would still be prosecuted and still be alive. Cop had no business standing in front of a running vehicle. This is not a war criminal they shot. It's a petty shoplifter.
