The Aseprite normal wheel map has issues with how it calculates colors. Would recommend making your own wheel in Blender or finding a reference image online, then docking the wheel beside the sprite you're working on.

"colors indicate directions" that makes so much sense. I'd think this would be the first phrased used by other people by in searching a bunch of long-form videos, this short was the only one to answer my question clearly. thank you!!
