In RDO the bolt action is the default weapon I nearly always keep shouldered. It doesnt hurt that the bounty hunter variant is sexy af.

Earliest you can get the bolt action is mid chapter 2, when sneaking in blackwater to rescue a member of the band if you kill the bounty hunters who are halfway on a cliff you have to travel one has a bolt action

Also with bolt action rifle the game gives you a unmissable one rather early in story mode in early chapter 3.

I use the springfield with a scope and Bolt actions scopeless because every time I aim a rifle with a scope it immediately aims with the scope when I don't want it to so I like a long-range and a short-range.

Problem with the bolt action is cycling the bolt takes too long and you cant do it in cover. Thats why inorefer the springfield.

My favorite combination is the varmint rifle, the bolt action and both le mat revolvers. One for everything

In my opinion the Springfield rifle I put above the bolt action, as I personally use repeaters for combat. I tend to save rifles for hunting and you tend to get a cleaner pelt with a Springfield rifle, in my experience.
