For my astigmatism, holosun has the crispest dot, very little smearing. Surprisingly when I tried an aimpoint it starbursted dramatically. For what it is worth for others searching while having an astigmatism.

I am retired Army, now on patrol in a Sheriff's Office. I run my own AR, with my trusty old Aimpoint comp m3. Absolutely bomb proof- literally. I have a MRO, but i trust the Aimpoint completely.

Aimpoints are awesome; I have several t-2s that I love, but honestly if money is a consideration at all the aimpoint pro and the holsosun offerings are the obvious answer. I’ve seen primary arms, trijicon, and vortex dots break in classes, and the eotech battery life is a bummer for me.

I had a similar issue with the SPARC Solar, I had bought two of them. One has been bulletproof, the other I sent back because it ate batteries. In fact I also sent back the replacement as well and the third time was the charm. Love the form factor of open turrets like the MRO and solar backup. I trust them now that I’ve had them a while.

Finally got my hands on a Holosun AEMS with a green dot and so far loving it. Can't go wrong with the donut of death 😉.

With so many options how do you choose?

Thanks for a great honest review with lots of information AND cost considerations. I have used a lot of these but not for a LONG time and it's good to see the old stand-bys are still the most reliable. I have also had good experiences with Holosuns, and love the Aimpoint PRO. Currently cleaning house of some rifles, acquiring a couple of new POF 415s in 5.56 and 300 blk as well a a bullpup ( Steyer), want to set set them up right with reliable and clear optic to augment the irons. Appreciate the reviews and the opinions.

As always, great review. Next time check out the Romeo 8T. I abuse my 'battle' gun. Been running the 8T for a year. After breaking a couple including an Eotech I'm happy with it. An added feature for me since I live in the woods is a tint that separates the greens and creates depth perception. Fantastic optic

For the few red dots I have now, I'm finding a considerable difference in astigmatism and clarity. Recently had an issue with function of some due to bad batch of Energizer batteries I bought, scared me, thought all my dots were bad after changing batteries multiple times 😳.

The crossfires are great for the money. Love trijicon and aimpoint but I gotta give it to holosuns newer optics. So crisp and clean. Best looking circle dots I have ever seen.
Check out the AEMS

My duty style rifle had a Romeo 5 but I just recently upgraded to the Aimpoint pro and I love it

Holosun HE515CT and PA 3x micro prism on my new builds, both are really damn good for the money. The 515CT packs a lot of goodness in a small 4oz package, and like a tank being a ipv8 rated titanium chassis, well worth the extra cost imo.

I had an Aimpoint Comp ML3 for over 10 years and never had an issue with it. I never turned it off the entire time I had it except when I changed the battery. I ran it hard in several classes and countless range trips. I sold it recently to a friend. Because of my astigmatism, I've been switching to Eotechs and primary arms SLX prisms. Which by the way, you need to try one if you havent already. They are awesome for the money.

Great minds think alike. I have an Aimpoint PRO too. I bought it from Scalarworks as a mount/red dot combo. Had to wait a long time for scalarworks to get it back in stock. Thanks for the informative video.

Same here I've tried many....but im really liking the holosun 510c. My dad just put a vortex spitfire 1x prism on his AR and I really like the fact it has an etched reticle....its sweet to shoot with as well

depending on the application, primary arms has some nice 1 to 3 power prism optics that are very reasonably priced. you can't go wrong with holosun or vortex in my opinion. i have the 510c & hs 503 on a couple of my ar pistols. i have been wanting to try the gen 2 uh1 & the pa 1 power micro prism with the acss cyclops reticle. didn't know that about aimpoint.

I’ve had or have the MRO, Primary Arms, Holosun, Aimpoint T2, and EXPS3 and the two I would personally choose for my patrol rifle are the EOTech and the Aimpoint. I like the EOTech more because of the reticle but the Aimpoint has the superior battery life. For a home defense gun, I choose Aimpoint for the battery life. For any sort of combat (insert fantasy here) I’d go with EOTech. Just my experience and preferences.

I'm amazed the Leupold Prismatic never got more attention. I absolutely love mine and use it on my Benelli M4 with slugs and 00buck. It has as close to 0 parallax as I can tell. It is illuminated and etched glass so it still works with dead batteries.

Great Video - On my CZ BREN 2 SBR I have a Trijicon MRO HD and I agree with your evaluation. I like the Circle Dot Reticle Option, however, battery life is just O.K. I've owned the Holosun 503G with the ACSS reticle and I like having the math on the glass for shooting out to 300 meters and some reference points for wind holds, which gives you a better reference than just a plain dot. I almost bought a Eotech, but I didn't understand how they worked and the reticle looked blurry to me, because I was focusing through the optic, rather than focusing on the target, like I should have done. I prefer Green too, but the battery life and clarity on some of the green reticles is not as good as the red, so until they fix these issues, I'm sticking with red for now.

Holosun 510c make a 20 dollar riser mount to bring it to lower 1/3 Co witness, works very well. Also, holosun 515 is the best all around holosun optic. T-2 size and durability for 300-350 with tax and shipping
