I am happy you are following the 1923 electric code from somewhere in Asia.

Just FYI, they make splice kits that come with adhesive lined heat shrink tubing that are rated for direct burial.

I’ve attended to a few of these months and years later, the moisture always gets in and corrodes the copper causing a hot joint . Anyone who’s thinking of doing it use a underground joining kit, contains inline joiners and resin to make it completely waterproof ! This may work in a pinch but it won’t last forever

Fixing a well wire with a plastic bag to make it waterproof is multitasking at its finest! Not only are you solving your wiring problem, but you’re also giving that plastic bag a new purpose. Since it takes up to 1, 000 years to decompose in a landfill, it should keep your well wire waterproof for quite some time. It’s a revolutionary move in saving both your wiring and the planet—talk about making a difference one plastic bag at a time! That was very liberal of you!

Good lord… they make splicing tape for a reason! It actually bonds to itself and is more durable than silicon sealant.

This is a joke right? Don’t think this method would pass code on Gilligans island.

That's what I figured would work, I did everything you did except I twisted and soldered the wires because I didn't want a 20-minute round trip to the hardware store. thanks for your demonstration. Git r done!

As a Licensed Electrician, I don’t recommend this technique.

This just saved me over 5 thousand dollars from having to use a grossly overpaid company to do this same thing. Thank you James and I hope you do more fix it yourself videos!!!

They only make a hundred different style, direct burial junction boxes. They even come pre-filled with silicone/grease.

I like the simple braid and some electrical tape; I like the silicone idea, but what I would do is use a short pvc pipe and fill it with silicone, wires within of course.

Don’t be a penny wise. Use the underground junction boxes made for this exact application and noted by others below.

Better use on small wago/electic cube, cable hermetic can and silicone inside evntually before it a small amout of pipe plastic, its gonna survive until next cut.

Trying to be respectful here, you have a construction company not an electrical company. Nothing about what you were doing here is code compliant, safe, or UL listed.

Should have used Noalox since your using an aluminum splice block on copper conductor or use copper crimp connector and noalox since it prevents corrosion and increases conductivity then put mastic on the connection and use shrink tube over that you could then use what ever outside of that if you want more protection
