How to Fix A Door That Won't Latch | Home Hack

Start this hack by grabbing masking tape and a tube of lipstick!
Cover the strike plate with masking tape. Apply the lipstick to the edge of the latch and carefully close the door so the lipstick leaves a mark on the tape.

If the latch misses the strike plate hole by more than 1/8 of an inch
You’ll need to remortise the strike plate. This means grabbing a chisel and hammer to widen the latch hole in the doorway. Once the hole has been widened, replace the strike plate and retest the alignment of the door latch.

Maybe call this how to diagnose the problem. You certainly taught no one how to fix anything

R.I.P to all the guys who just grabbed a lipstick of their girl's and used is as shown.

If driving hundreds of women to simply give up and call a repair man to do the job of actually repairing it, you nailed it. It's like default-falure marketing in support of all home-repair guys, I see now, kinda nifty!

Terrible title for this video, "How to Fix A Door That Won't Latch". As @RedBeardNP says below, it only describes how to identify the problem, NOT how to fix it.
