Contact your insurance company or insurance agent right away to start the claim process.

Make a list of damaged property and attach pictures and videos if possible. Don’t immediately throw away damaged items: talk to your insurance agent or adjuster first.

Minimize further damage: make provisional repairs such as covering broken windows and holes, but no permanent repairs until instructed by your insurer. Keep all repair receipts.

During your damage inspection, walk around with the adjuster so that they don’t miss anything. Having your builder or contractor with you is also a good idea.
