The only way our Protestant brothers can know which are the inspired books of the Bible is for them to accept the teaching Councils of the Catholic Church.

The Catholic Church Hierarchy is guided by the Holy Spirit, one of their primary duties is to hold periodic Church Councils.

These Councils are called to define revealed truths in Scripture and to address rising heresy, and other problems of the time. The Councils are attended by the Pope and the Bishops... And they are Biblical.

"Where there is no Governor, the people shall fall; but there is safety where there is much Council." Proverbs
11:14

1. What is the nature of Jesus Christ? The Council of Chalcedon in 451 defined Jesus Christ as being one person, with two natures, one Divine nature and one human nature.
2. Who defined the Holy Trinity? The Council of Nicaea in 325.
3. Who defined The Holy Spirit as consubstantial with the Father and the Son?
The Council of Constantinople I, in 381.
4. Who condemned predestination as not Biblical? The Council of Mainz did in 848.
5. Who defined the Hypostatic Union? The Councils of Ephesus in 431, and Chalcedon in 451.
6.  In Scripture, where can one find a definitive list of the Old and New Testament canons? If no such list is present in Scripture, how can we ascertain the authenticity of the books we recognize as the Bible? Scripture is silent on which books, out of hundreds available at the time, were canonical and which were not. There is no list of inspired books in the Bible.
It was the Councils of Rome in 382, Hippo in 393, and finally, Carthage in 397, which decided which books were canonical in both the Old and New Testaments.

"And that they had made themselves a senate house, and consulted daily three hundred and twenty men that sat in Councils always for the people, THAT THEY MIGHT DO THE THINGS THAT WERE RIGHT.
And that they committed their government to One Man every year, to rule over their country, and they all obey one, and there is no envy nor jealousy among them." 1Maccabees 8

This is exactly how the Catholic  Church Council of Carthage in 397A.D
Established the Canon of Scripture with Bishops & the one man, Vicar of Christ, "Father Figure" of all nations Pope Damasus the 1st which approved the 73 books of the Bible which we have today.

John 16:12-15 can be a biblical foundation for the development of doctrine, Our Lord wants to reveal things to us but we cannot receive it yet, so He prepares us and when the time is come He sent the Holy Spirit to get us to understand the things He wants to reveal, and it unfolded over time

This is a critical video that ev-er-y Protestant ought to watch. Their tacit acceptance of the authority of the Church when defining the true nature of Jesus. while rejecting "certain selected" truths, displays the preposterousness of their theological standing.

I am a non catholic and denomination all I have to say is while I am not alined with the catholic church teachings, I like the fact that you are explaining things because I think some people from the different churches do not have understanding the concept of Jesus human and divine nature, keep it up.

It's precisely because of how the development of doctrine is explained in this video that I personally believe a Third Vatican Council is necessary in the near future. We shall see.

Protestants should not be accusing Catholics of things like this when they made up strange doctrines such as soul sleep and the rapture.

Excellent review of the first 7 councils. That quote you mentioned in the beginning is true in me, the more I learn the more orthodox I get

Vatican I, Pastor Aeternus

The Holy Spirit was promised to the successors of Peter not so that they might, by His revelation, make known some new doctrine, but that, by His assistance, they might religiously guard and faithfully expound the revelation or deposit of faith transmitted by the apostles.

John Henry Newman was active in Tracts and or Oxford movement that lead many Angelica members back to monastic habits, transubstantiation, mother of God worshipping ect basically catholc habits.

He was also close relationship with Westcott and Hort who also were part of Oxford movement but they worked on revised version of Bible. There translation wasn't consistent with King James and it was pitched mostly to Protestant churches as at that time Catholics didn't do a lot of Bible reading (1881)

John Henry Newman request to be buried with his 30 year male companion who was minister in Angelica church and left it for the Rome Catholic Church! It is suggested John never acted on his male attraction but they exhumed his companion grave and buried him as he wished.

He was made cardinal and saint the thing is He was very instrumental in the counter reformation that is still going on in the economical movement.

I realized recently what the word development means... you have to considere the word envelop which is to wrap up, cover or surround. To develop is to uncover something that was already there... when doctrine is developed it is not that it was lacking in the deposit of faith

Rather it means that it was always there and has been unfolded to be defined as it is needed when new questions arrise.
