I always try as a dietitian to show patients that 1 pound of fat is a lot!

Visceral fat is fat that wraps around your abdominal organs deep inside your body. You can’t always feel it or see it. In fact, you may have a pretty flat tummy and still have visceral fat. That’s sometimes called TOFI, or "thin outside fat inside."

Only an expensive scan can measure how much belly fat is hiding in you, but your doctor won’t order a test just for that reason.

Too much of any body fat is bad for your health. But compared to the fat that lies just underneath your skin (subcutaneous fat), the visceral kind is more likely to raise your risk for serious medical issues. Heart disease, Alzheimer’s, type 2 diabetes, stroke, and high cholesterol are some of the conditions that are strongly linked to too much fat.

Weight gain occurs when you regularly eat more calories than you use through normal bodily functions and physical activity. But the lifestyle habits causing your weight gain aren't always obvious. Losing weight means eating fewer calories and burning more energy. Buuuut hormones and your metabolism play a bigger role so that’s why being in a caloric deficit isn’t always going to cut it! 👀

Don’t forget to add foods that deliver some fat and protein in your salads. The fiber from the vegetables in the salad make you feel full right away, the protein helps you stay full for longer, and the fat works with the hormones in your body to tell you to stop eating!

Stable blood sugar is the key to good health 🔑 Here are some tips to keep it stable... 👇

✅ focus meals around protein and fat
✅ eat mainly whole foods
✅ avoid refined sugar and carbs
✅ limit high sugar fruit
✅ eat starchy foods at the end of your meal (after protein, fat and non-starchy veg)

Stable blood sugar = consistent energy, fewer cravings and better brain power 🧠

Unstable blood sugar = energy crashes, sugar cravings and an increased disease risk 🤒

I’m 40 pounds down in 5 months. I started with walking 2.5 miles 5x a week and gym 6x a week. Once i built stamina. Instead of walking I ran the 2.5 miles 4-5x per week and gym 5x At my 3 1/2 months I incorporated Jump rope 10 mins 4x a week with the running and gym at the same time. But also one major key is I meal prep starting my 3rd month that’s what help. I started at 236 lbs rn I’m at 196 solid. Goal is 175 lbs 💪🏽🔥

I plan on losing 190 pounds. Im pretty depressed at how I look. Im 300 and I wanna get down to 110. I'm going to start my journey tomorrow. Wish me luck

Seeing this makes me sick with myself.

I’m 5’7. Started at 205 . Currently at 173. I do intermediate fasting and also go to the gym everyday . My meals are also very high protein & low calorie . I also burn 1000 calories a day and do weight lifting as well . While this might not me ideal or work for everyone this is what has been helping me . Good luck to everyone on their weight loss journey. 🤞🏽

Wow and I wanna lose 20lbs of fat but I don’t think I have that much on my frame 😂I’m down 15kgs so far tho 😌

I lost 11 lbs since last month just by kicking sugar, carbs, and eating greens and berries. I make my own foods and do what my doctor said to do since I'm pre-diabetic.

I will lose 10 lbs by the beginning of February(guys I did lose 10lb I have 15 more to go and I'll have lost all my weight my new goal is by the end of April I will have lost 15lb my routine is (walk 20km 4 times a week and fast for a whole day 4 times every week for a total of 12000kal weekly burned) for a total of 15.1lbs by end of April

Alr I’m very insecure abt my body like very to the point I starved myself for 2 days but when I saw this I realized all of the “fat” I had was really just a lot of muscle

( I do volleyball and soccer and I eat a very nutritious meals every day this was when I was like 8 and I’m still insecure now but not as much as I was then)
