My cat has skin allergy in June around the neck areas and kept scratching which caused some wounds and lost of fur. I took her to see the vet several times who gave her steroid injections and she had taken 2 dosages of steroid tablets but with no success. After more than 2 month still the same, I decided to wash and cleaned her wounds 3 times a day with cold water using cotton pads and buds to gently apply. After cleaning, I also have to brush her fur and giving her neck a massage and gentle scratching to ease her itchiness. Then I cut up the sleeves of a pure cotton top and put it around her neck to cover the wounds. These cotton wraps have to be changed and washed each time. Then I put a neck protector on top of the cotton wrap to prevent her scratching and allowing the wounds or scabs to heal. She has to wear the neck protector 24/7 except meal time and toilet in the litter box. Now she’s more or less recovered with fur growing back slowly but still continues wearing the homemade cotton neck wear. It was very stressful for me to see my cat not feeling well and there was no help from the vet beside very expensive for an appointment. Now my cat is happy so I’m happy too.
