She asked for the power to keep simon safe. No matter what. Because of that wish, she was able to cannonize Fiona's world because that was the only way she could keep simon safe from putting on the crown. Imo.

Simon wasn't looking to escape his fate, he wanted to escape *himself*. Becoming Ice King was going to be basically suicide.

Did you watch the series??? He isn't selfish! He had people literally fawning over Ice King and calling Simon a "Boring Sad Guy". Back then, he didn't notice Betty was sacrificing, because he thought those were her own choices and went along with it. He didn't even want her to jump into the future or give up anything. And he wasn't lying to himself when he wanted to save Fionna and Cake's universe. Missing being Ice King was the start of the mission, but he figured it would make everyone happy, because Ice King can keep writing the stories for the fans, Fionna will have magic in her world to save it from the Scarab, and he'll stop feeling useless. So while it was a bit for himself, that didn't mean he was ONLY doing it for himself. He cares about helping people or making them happy, and that's who he is. He just needs to learn to value his own life and forgive himself for Ice King's doing. The adventures he went through WEREN'T telling us that he is selfish; they were telling us to not make the same mistakes Betty made, to not throw your life away, to know you matter, just like everyone else. THAT was the lesson Simon learned.
