I definitely remember while blueberries. If my grandmother was going to bake a pie, we had to pick a whole coffee can full. It took forever.

There’s nothing better than a wild blueberry pie… mmmm.
Our problem was that the bears liked them, too; and there were lots of ants in the blueberry patches.

This is what I miss the most about living up North: picking berries, fishing, other foraging.

in finland they're regular. garden blueberries are kinda tasteless and have a lot less color if smashed.

Quick baking tip if you toss the blueberries in flour they won’t sink to the bottom

Each individual berry has a UPC code. Its hard to see because the berry colour is close to the dye colour. But its there, just look.

Just because it says wild blueberries on them, doesn't mean they really are. Real ones stain everything; your tongue, your lips, your hands, your yoghurt, your muffins; everything.

For one, they are smaller and two, just slice one. The cultivated "canadian" blueberries are green on the inside, wild blueberries are dark purple all the way inside, also way juicier.
As a central European, I only encountered "farm" blueberries in the last few years. Ours always came from the forest 😄. There is one downside ofc. "Professional pickers" use tools that often damage the plants...

I was pretty old when I was first introduced to cultivated blueberries, did not know they existed. We just to to the nearest forest and pick the wild ones when they are in season, they freeze remarkably well. Cultivating blueberries still feels weird, why go through all that trouble when you can get them everywhere for free.

I don't have to buy them, because I own 10 acres of them in Alaska. There is nothing like fresh, wild blueberries! I make a lot of things with them, but the biggest favorite so far has been my homemade chili. The flavor the fruit lends the meat a fantastic depth, and the juice makes the meat super tender.

There are farm blueberries that are super small and great for baking, easy to pick. Rancocca...can find at a good farm supplier.

If you stored wild blueberries in a Pokeball or domesticated them magically, would they still work for the recipe? I was also hoping to swap out the flour for hot sauce.

I’ve picked them in Wisconsin and they were not much smaller than the Michigan farm grown ones.

Buy Wyman's brand if you are buying frozen. They come from Maine wild blueberry fields.
