You're Using it WRONG

There's only one way to properly use your String Trimmer, and it all depends on which way your trimmer rotates.

Another option is to get a goat. My goat has trouble holding the trimmer, so I strapped it to his back. Takes about a week but eventually everything is nice and low.

“either spins clockwise or counter-clockwise” never would’ve guessed that.

Been using it wrong for 40 years. Thanks for showing us the way.

I learned this when I was 13 or 14 and have had a successful mowing business for the last 25 yrs. With many of the same customers I had then and some of them very wealthy and all love our work I have one huge yard I have charged the same 40 dollars for for 25 yrs. It was the 3rd yard I ever started mowing. The lady and her husband who recently passed have been so wonderful.

This only applies along beds. When I'm in the thick stuff I want the debris flung away. It hurts!

this stuff is common sense. Apparently I have none

Whether simple common sense or not, not everyone would think of this. Thank you so much for the simple, but very important tidbit!🙏

Great straightforward & concise. Have taken note, been using it incorrectly 😮

I work as a groundskeeper and a weedeater is one of my most commonly used tools. In your examples of wrong/right you tilted the weedeater differently, if you were to keep the tilt the same as the right way of your examples but went the other way it would still shoot towards you vs your mulch. Also it’s not necessarily wrong or right because when I’m working in large areas where I don’t have to worry about mulch or windows I’ll tilt the opposite way so the pebbles and other debris shoot away from me. I’ve had many rocks hit my shins and it’s not a fun feeling. Great video though!

I want it throwing the poison ivy, bugs, etc away from my legs.

Lmao when you’re doing 30 houses a day you just run with the weed wacker and blow the mulch beds out real quick after 😂

I was on a mowing crew at one time for a few years. I learned how to use it so I wasn't wearing grass all over me. Tilt the head at the right angle and by walking in the right direction you keep the clippings going where you want them

Yep, And string trim before mowing. The mower will mulch or bag it all leaving it look professional. If you side discharge mow from the middle to throw clippings to middle so it still looks tidy.

Who knew? Great advice, thank you very much!

There’s advantages to going both directions. Hit it on the left side when edging, both when you’re clearing large swaths, right side when buzzing to the ground or poison Ivy or cutting the edge vertically

It depends on if you're edging or not. In big overgrowth, it's best to do back and forth with a slight lean, in order to mulch the debris.

That's a game changer tip! I have been doing that for years and it keeps things looking great and you don't have to figure out how to get the grass off of the mulch.

Thanks! I honestly never gave it a thought, but next time I use my trimmer I’ll try it. I hope it works because the mulch looks like crap with the clippings in it.
