I'm always jealous of the rail culture you guys have in the UK. The fact that you still keep ancient emblematic trains running like this is astonishing.
Too bad that some awful political decisions ended up dismantling your once glorious national railways, hopefully they will return some day!

Steam 1 - 0 Diesel 😁
The fact the old Duchess is pulling away is great. The 66 has at least 1000hp more to but limited to 60mph on the engineers. I drive 66's daily, and have driven Duchess of Hamilton(being a registered main line steam driver) but the edge at speed is always with the Duchess. Great video. 👍🏻

the Diesel Loco at the rear is for power to the carriages and the dinning car. Also at the end of steam steam stock coaches were converted to be heated by Diesel engines so a diesel loco is required unless the coaches are original steam stock where the coaches are heated by steam and powered by a dynamo fitted under the carriage.

Amazing. I know steam trains 🚂 are hard work to look after, run and maintain, but it’s so nice to see them still on the rails. Thanks to those who dedicate to keep them running. Thanks for sharing the bonus of seeing them run both side by side, the diesel train deserves just as much praise, being the backbone of the railway.

I love British trains and railways, they have all kinds of steam and diesel locomotives, too bad that here in Mexico we only have diesel trains transporting cargo, and not any steam or other types of trains transporting passengers :(
