Train race: Modern Vs Old Class 66 & LMS Duchess of Sutherland racing through Wellingborough Station 27th November 2021 epic race 653J 17:58 Toton North Yard to Silkstream Junction with DB Class 66 No. 66019 and LMS 6233 Duchess of Sutherland on The York Yuletide Express with Class 47802 on the back.

1Z28 15:14 York to Ealing Broadway at 20:09PM at Wellingborough Station racing side by side, never filmed anything as fantastic as this before in all my years of trainspotting. Duchess of Sutherland races a modern Freight train !! Horn & whistle communications never filmed any racing.

LMS Princess Coronation Class 46233 Duchess of Sutherland is a steam locomotive built in 1938 for the London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) at Crewe Works to a design by William Stanier. It is a 4-6-2 Pacific locomotive built as part of the LMS Coronation Class for its express passenger services, including the Royal Scot service from London to Glasgow.

Withdrawn by British Railways in 1964, the locomotive was originally sold to Butlins holiday camp in Scotland. In 1996, the locomotive was acquired by The Princess Royal Class Locomotive Trust with the intention of restoration to mainline condition. In 2001, 46233 was restored to operating condition and since then has been a regular performer on the national network.

Superb stuff, glad someone filmed this! Just got to the station as it hurled through, it was surreal! Might be a stupid question but what was the 66 doing on the down line?
