This is the first time I actually disagree with Peter on something fundamentally. While I understand his points for socially eating together for meals in dining halls or being labeled as a "student" for 4 years that's the identity you assume and society, in general, accepts you for it as being respectable, you can do all of that without college and it happens anyway and what happens is those that can function without the structure of being told what to do and when to do it are the ones that run society and ultimately make the most money and hold the most power. He is an exception to this as he's independently thinking and doing things on his own since it's required to get your Ph.D. but that's the whole point of college. To create obedient employees that serve instead of being creative. It's a recipe for disaster and over the last 2 years, the perspective of how people view work speaks to my point where there was a record number of LLCs opened in 2021 and people just taking the leap to being in control of their lives. The way we approach work is changing the way we also value education and it starts with being able to do things that give you more control and more freedom to be creative. We're seeing that right now with online courses which aren't valued typically by employers but people value them because they not only are learning something relevant but it's practical and they can use it to extend their creativeness.

Im learning React....college is not meant for everyone...The big thing is college is not the only way to access knowledge.

All the people that I know that met and married out of college, are now divorced. Only about half are practicing in their field of study. He is wildly exaggerating the social importance of college.

Jordan wants us to believe that despite the demoralization by the school-system of students ... which according to Jordan has been going on for the last 60 years ... HE succeeded ... while other young men of then and now were and ARE NOT capable.

He's putting other young men down as being too weak ... while putting his self up as being the STRONG and ABLE one who succeeded despite the system.

It's amazing that people don't spot Jordan's pomposity.

Most of our learning is done outside the classroom, where experience is life's teacher, and we are life's ever-learning students.

The first President of the United States, George Washington managed quite well to succeed.

From the book … Washington: The Indispensable Man … author … James Thomas Flexner

Being practically without schooling, Washington had always taught himself from experience.
