You want to make your own dimension? You're in the right place. We'll talk about dimension files, dimension type files, noise settings, and biome files, and I'll point out how to modify each one. We'll change default blocks, dimension rules, change biome grass color, and add mob spawning in. There's a lot to cover, so I've provided a template datapack below.

Resources (in video order):

Thanks, I’ve always wanted to explode a dimension, and probably my computer to.

I am so happy that you are making guide about dimension stuff, there is not alot of guides out there. It has been by far the most complex thing i ever tried and most gone trough guest work and the wiki, and still so much to learn. - I am on version 1.20.1 atm due to some favorite mods i using with my datapack, but this video that plays on same version as me i can assure much have changed for dimension stuff and i am very excited for the advanced guides to come.

This is indeed alot of stuff to take in, but once gets that complete grasp of what you can do - oh man, you sure can make your world look like a donut - or a cheese - or to something absolutely majestic.

Can you change the dimension as layout? For example your dimension is generated like the overworld. So could i do a dimension that generates like the end(floating islands)?

This worked just right for what I wanted it for. But I must ask, is there a way to enable/set structure spawning? I made a bedrock layer world where every block is structure voids (I would do air, but that just clears the world *and* the bedrock for some reason), but I want mineshafts and other underground structures to still spawn so the player can get resources if they need them. Is there a way to do that while keeping the world largely blank?
Also, I set the fluid layer to the bedrock layer, and set it to lava, but it doesnt seem to spawn the fluid. So if you can also help me fix that, that would be great. Other than that, great tutorial, 9/10

How can we set say one dimension to peaceful & another to Normal? Kind of like Just Enough Dimensions used to do? Also, how do we make things like villages & mineshafts generate? Great tutorial, btw!

Structures like villages and stuff should be able to generate too, right? My idea is to make a mining and an exploring/adventuring dimension with the new trial chambers for my server, which I can delete and regenerate at will so that the file size of my overworld doesn't get too big from exploring.

Weird question, but would there be a way to set a "dimension" to be a pre generated world. I.e an old overworld save with player built structures ect

If I make a biome in <namespace>/worldgen/biome/mybiome.json, how can I add it to spawn naturally in the overworld? When unpacking the 1.21.1.jar file, in the data folder, there is no dimension folder where a overworld.json could be. At best, I dont want to overwrite the whole overworld(.json) in the minecraft namespace just for my biome but add it to spawn naturally somewhere within my own namespace

If I wanted to create a map divided in multiple dimensions, with multiple end island like dimensions on which I build the parts of the map or maybe even a dimension with only one block from which I build everything.
How could I make a preset that’s like the main end island?
Would a preset like the end or nether even be possible?
