For those worried about the height of it over an electric cooktop, yes the maximum height should be 24”. However, it can go up higher if the oven range is a downdraft. Technically downdraft versions don’t need a fan, but some prefer a hood fan in addition to it anyways.

I was surprised to see him leave the junction box open to the room when he installed the hood. I was expecting him to put a cover on the junction box.

why is there no premade adapter for connecting the range hood damper to the vent? they are bot the same size so why is the no flange provided bt the range hood maker?

Based on your math my vent should have 240-250 CFM. I already installed a 500 CFM duct. It looks like I should be covered.

Can you please add more information regarding hood size, power, and placement with respect to cooktop distance and type? It seems wider and deeper is better, and more power the higher you go. But surely there are specs.

I will be installing a vent less hood under cabinets . the cabinet bases are wider than the vent. do I need to enclose those bases, so crud (grease, dirt) doesn't build up without a way to clean them ??
