Excellent video! The exact same thing would work for a front venting setup - where we need a replaceable filter. We have such a hood, but we won't be using the fan at all - we never used the fan on the Microwave that was there either... yet THAT had been vented out the back and into a vent system in the wall. Since we are venting (even though we are not using it) into the house, so I will be placing the filter in the hood for that. And the unit will cover that vent hole... so I am making a plug that can be removed, should someone later on decide they want to make use of the external vent. The other "issue" we have is that our cabinet has a one inch spacer (so I need to have a 1 inch mounting board spacer, the microwave we removed had made use of the spacers - but I don't think they are in the same location I need for the four mounting screws... and I will be wanting a much more secure mount of the supplied 1" boards that came with the hood).

Once I get those properly positioned and installed? The rest will be as simple as your installation here - thanks for posting!

Nice and simple video… I was hoping to hear about the venting part and if you used that over ductless. I’m installing a new hood with venting that is offset and will have to tweak it because the 50 year old set up is half the width with a stud on the side.

This is great! Whoever built my house did not include a vent that blows outside! Instead, the air blows right back into the kitchen 😡 So all I needed was a range hood for lighting purposes only! Thanks!!

I appreciated a few parts of this video. Thanks for that.
But at around 14 seconds into the video, on the top of range hood, we see small removable rectangle for ductless operation which allows the hood to vent back into the kitchen.

Did you remove it earlier for ductless operation?
And if you did... did that vent hole stick out past the cupboard it was attached to, so it could vent back inside the kitchen.
Once you had it installed, it looked like that vent hole was being covered/blocked by the bottom of the cupboard it was attached to.
That would have stopped the hood from venting back into the kitchen, and would have been very hard on the fan motor.
Am I missing something here?
I looked at a similar model vent hood, but couldn't understand why that vent hole ended up behind the 12" depth of the cupboard.
Again.... am I missing something here.

It would be more helpful to see inside the cupboard above the hood. It's really annoying that no one does this. When making a decision as to what hood to buy a lot of that decision is based on how much space the thing is going to take up. What cupboard space will be available. It would have been good to see this.

Trying to install a hood but my cabinet is 1.5 inches shorter. Is it ok to drill holes in the range hood to change the front screw position?

You bought an exhaust fan and didn’t exhaust it. The proper fan should have had a vent at the top of hood that recirculates the air info the kitchen if you weren’t going to exhaust the air. Derp

this is not gonna work if there is a top exhaust and the hole in the cabinet is not big enough to allow the range hood to slide in
