This video came in SO clutch!! We were replacing an old stove from the 90s that had a 3-prong. Our new stove had a 4 prong. Headed to Lowe’s and got a 3 prong for the new own. Followed this to a T!

Wow! I'm watching this a second time before I run to Lowes to get the cord. You are a wonderful communicator and teacher!

Does this mean red and black wires are interchangeable as long as the center prong is connected correctly?

Nice job, my range Power wire just smoked. They left the screws loose on the power plugged, got to buy a power plug, and I got the cable.

Great job. You answered my question which was: which is the red and which is the black and do they have to be connected in a specific way (when NOT labeled on the appliance cord. You took the time to explain, gave senarios and emphasized certain aspects. Thank-you. Much appreciated.

Sister just bought a used stove from a remodel job. After hooking up the electrical outlet, plugged in the stove ( which seemed to work) only to find the display did not come on. but it did flicker once, So I checked the plug not only was the left side completely burnt and corroded, but all three wires were not even screwed in but a couple turns, not tight at all. Thanks for telling the audience how important to get these wires tight. I will be getting a new plug tomorrow.

Awesome! I got a new range today and thanks to this I even know why they didn't have a cord already on it.. And your tutorial is so straightforward and clearly shown that I did it myself easily. Thanks!!!

What tool do you use to remove the nut? the sockets I have are not long enough to get past the screw like you did here. Thanks!!

I have a 3 prong cord but the end where you hook it up to the oven itself are like 2 prong forks instead of circles, is there a difference in how to hook them up

So does this mean that all newer stove models can interchange between a 3 prong to 4 prong/4 prong to 3 prong?

Why would you need a 3 versus 4 or vice versa? What’s the difference/benefits of the two?

I don’t have a ground strap.can I just use a piece of cooper wire

I have a 3 prong outlet and the stove/range has a 4 prong plug. I am changing the stove to a 3 prong plug...
On the stove/range, do I install a ground strap from the frame/chassis of the stove to the neutral on the terminal block of the stove? Does the neutral also provide "ground" to the stove as where it appears the 4 prong outlet provided a separate ground wire?
