Chuck shows you a single setting in the slicer that can make a 3D print go from too tight to the perfect fit. He explains it all in this week's Filament Friday.

It's amazing how much useful information Mr. Hellebuyck can cram into a three and a half minute video. Bravo!

Im working in Orca, but it has X-Y Hole Compensation and X-Y Contour Compensation, ran a couple tests and found that i was usually only able to use the .45mm slots or higher on any type of tolerance calibration test I tried, so I watched your tutorial and added a .225mm X-Y Hole compensation value, and a -.225 X-Y contour compensation value, and boom! My prints fit like magic! Thanks!

In latest Cura, Set "Wall Ordering" to outside-to-inside, and possibly also set "Outer Wall Inset" to something like 0.1mm or whatever. This will help small holes get bigger, AND reduce interference fit problems on other larger male/female part fits. It will make your overall part a tiny bit smaller in x-y too, but usually not enough to matter.

Chuck this tip is a life savor. I'm doing a project now where this saved me a ton of headache. A 0.5 clearance on one hole and a 0.2 on a oblong hole did the trick. The part had two side cylinder points that couldn't change in order to fit matting holes so thanks a million as always. CHEP to the rescue

Thought this was going to be about slicing tolerance. Good to know there is a similar setting to try out. I've had cura slice some parts incorrectly leaving huge holes and it was because of slicing tolerance set to exclusive instead of default middle.

Another amazingly useful calibration print. Thanks!

So glad to see you with a bambu, been waiting on you to get one since they came out after the Kickstarter. I've been loving mine ever since and really think you'll dail in the settings to perfection like you always do.

Creality Print (version 5.1 at least) has XY hole compensation and XY contour compensation under "Quality" settings and "Precision".

There's a setting called XY Size Compensation in PrusaSlicer, and it does work on the holes, but it also works on the whole contour. I guess they need to program a detection for holes and apply it based on that?

Often it's just enough to play with an experimental setting called "Slicing tolerance". I often set it to "Exclusive" on mechanical parts that need to fit well together. And it works perfectly every time for me.

Just in time for a project I'm working on! Thanks, CHEP!

Prusa Slicer has XY Size Compensation that sort of does this. It's under Print Settings > Advanced in the Slicing section. It's not even mentioned in the documentation, but I've used it to adjust hole sizes. Orca Slicer does it better though . . .

I don't always talk to my screen when I watch vids. But when I do, I say, "Dang!" Right when you showed the actual Cura setting. Thanks.

would this work on gaps that aren't necessarily circular holes? for example a hexagonal hollow shape or opened ended gaps?

Perhaps acceleration/jerk are keeping your profile from achieving the high speed potential of the K1

i use your profiles in orca slicer which is a fork of bambu slicer. i just input all the sizes for the nozzle and width. used their built in tuning and i am right now using the xy comensation. dialing it in as we speak.

Great videos! I did that and the horizontal was perfect bue only in the X, the Y axe still wrong. what can I do?

Interesting! This is the first time I've heard of this function.

I'm not so sure that the new Creality Print is actually Cura based. The interface is remarkably similar to a slicer called Z-Suite. Which is used mainly for resin printing. In fact, on my computer I cannot use either of these slicers in full screen/maximized mode. When I do, my cursor disappears. (An incompatibility with my video card and driver.) But having both of these slicers have this same issue really makes me think they are closely related to each other.
