When I am tempted to purchase something that is just a decoration or something that I don’t really need, I remind myself that it will probably not look as nice in my house as it does in the store when they have it as part of a beautiful display. And I tell myself that my house looks so much nicer without so much stuff.

Avoiding re-cluttering is SO important. Despite years of decluttering my house didn't look much better. Now that I'm doing a low buy year I'm making strides in the appearance of my home. Low buy + decluttering has done so much for me this year.

The Shoppe is your storage unit. You you can go and look at it and they keep all "your" stuff, and even rotate it and even take care of it!

I have a new lease on life! I am taking 5 minutes whenever I get the urge and gradually shifting the energy in my home. Laura, you're the best!!!

I've been so happy to have and see my cleared spaces - a desk surface I can actually work on and a side table that looks so lovely now the pile of reading material is gone (into a drawer) that I've already been doing the daily "reset" for most of the month. Thank you for somehow finding my motivation button with your honest reality chats. I will be revisiting these videos in the month of January (or maybe sooner) because several areas need much more than the 5 minutes (or even two hours) I gave them this month. Thank you, thank you, thank you - Laura and all commenters!!!

Resetting is definitely something I need to do! Especially in my office which I use for multiple different activities and it’s the one area of my house that gets out of hand the quickest - rendering the space unusable.

I adore your videos and your channel. Great concept of leftover life. I bought a large coffee table 10 years ago thinking that it would fit my larger home in the future. Guess what? I don't have a larger living room now and I like having space for people to move around and chitchat. I will be letting us coffee table go to a better home.

Absolutely LOVE the bit about seeing the shops as your storage unit! It makes it SO much easier for me to love and admire things without bringing them home!!!!

Minute 7: me crying in bed. Sometimes I don't even have leftovers. Thank you Laura. You should be blessed for being such a sensitive and down to earth sweet human being.

Love this video! :) I needed this advice moving in a few days and I lived in my current space for 11 years so I definitely needed to declutter so much and did but had to box everything else up but once we settle in I will continue to declutter some more. I want to live in a more clear space. 💗💗💗

Loving these videos, Laura! I was in TK Maxx last week and I admired lots of things but only bought two small notebooks that I needed (handbag size) and a cleaning brush, less than £6 in total. I think we've cottoned on to this idea, that the shops have been feeding to us now for years. That we "deserve" that top/cake/necklace/handbag rather than buying what's actually needed. I speak as someone who cleared out half her bags, some of them older than our adult children! I'm all for the occasional treat still but I'm finding other ways to give myself that "hit".

My resolution is to stem the flow of things coming in. Less shopping! Thanks for such an amazing guided declutter.

I shall miss these daily videos, Laura! It makes me happy to know that I am not the only person who loves rainbows and unicorns - although I also love sparkle and glitter (fireworks and tinsel!) as well. It heartens me to know that it's perfectly possible to live a life that is rich with these things without drowning in examples of them in our homes! I am inspired! :-)

Love this! Thank you so much! My next task is to unfollow brands on social media so I don't get tempting ads. I've just jotted down my favourites so if I need a new something I can refer to my list and look at their websites - on my own terms!!

Just wanted to say I am enjoying this daily decluttering series and your very pleasant manner. It’s like you are holding our hands as we push through. Out of all the decluttering channels, the way you have shared the break down of your thought process with each category has been the most relevant to me. Go raibh maith agat! ( hope that’s right)

Not many talk about the shopping side. You're so right. I think asking myself those questions will help me. Do I have time for it? Do I have space for it?

Laura, thanks so much for your great ideas and innovative posts. Love the idea of loving something and leaving it behind and seeing the shops at a storage unit. Genius!
