Budget friendly Tofu Stirfry is a Timeline Win in My Mind. Make it a Weight Loss Dinner with my Plate Collection. You can shop and learn more with the link in my bio & at ilanahousewares.com

To make the tofu: add 1/4 c nutritional yeast to 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp onion powder, 1 tsp paprika, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp cumin and/oregano. Mix it well and coat slices of extra firm tofu on all sides with the mix. Cook each one in a pan coated with olive or avocado spray and enjoy with a stir fry of your favorite veggies and soyaki marinade. Its the best and so inexpensive and easy to make.

I love it when two people love each other and want to stay together so they find ways to do that. This was beautiful

Odd, where I live Chicken is cheaper than Tofu 😂. Beef is extremely expensive though.

Lentils are super high in protein and very cheap. You can make a lot of delicious dishes with it.

tofu for dinner, tuna for lunch, yogurt for breakfast is how i would budget out for maximum protein
Edit: tuna y’all’s!!! i can’t afford none of the fancy kind lol!

The broke girls grocery list for me was:
- canned tuna
- beans
- canned peas and carrots
- rice
- eggs
- powdered iced tea for when I wanted to feel "fancy"
- tofu
- occasionally, chicken and ground beef

You do what you can with what you have! ❤

My Mum has an amazing nachos recipe she made in similar circumstances.
All you need is refried beans, salsa, a small can of creamed corn, 1-3 cans of beans depending how many people you’re feeding, and obviously corn chips and cheese. You can also add toppings if you want. She also sometimes adds shredded carrot or broccoli when we have some leftover.
You mix all the beans, salsa, corn and optional veggies in a saucepan idk what heat. Put it in oven-safe bowls and add corn chips and cheese. Bake them in the oven until the cheese melts and they’re ready to serve with toppings (avocado, tomato, sour cream, Tabasco).

Girl, if you paid 2 for $5, you got robbed 13 years ago. Should have gone to an Asian store.
Edit: Y’all are wild. I left an innocence comment 6 days ago and some of you sounded like you wanted to wage war. Good that people are passionate about… TTTOOFFFUUU!!!

This is indeed very healthy. Beans and chick peas and lentils are also great budget options

It depends where you live, because I'm sure there are places where tofu is ridiculously expensive and chicken is cheap, but a few years back I calculated price per gram of protein for the cheapest tofu at my local grocery store vs price per gram of protein for the cheapest chicken near me (which was bulk chicken from Costco) and the tofu had been cheaper by quite a bit.

For those who are struggling with meals, buy an entire chicken and roast it. That will go a long way for you and you can use the bones for a homemade broth with your throw away parts of veggies. I think many don't go for the whole chicken instead of the parts. Beans, rice and a whole chicken will save your budget. Additionally, fresh veggies are great, but frozen can be a help as well. I usually see those on sale with coupons available. This video is a great tip even for those that want to save money, so shop for yourselves and find what works for you.

Would love to see more egg dishes for those of us who can't do soy, but are on a budget! Cabbage is def a go to for our large one income fam, usually in the form of stir fry or raw sauerkraut. ❤
